هبت على روض القبول
ريح الأماني
The breeze of hopes blew,
On the garden of acceptance,
ففاح من زهر الوصول
عرف التداني
So the scent of attainment diffused,
From the flower of intimacy.
عهد النوى قد انقضى
إن كنت صادى
The days of resolve have passed,
If you were a friend,
فاشرب بكاسات الرضى
صرف الوداد
So drink from the cups of contentment,
The wine of affection.
لا تيأسن فقد مضى
عصر البعاد
Do not despair, for the days,
Of estrangement have gone.
بقربها طاب المقيل
أنى نعانى
With her nearness, the resting place thrived,
How we suffered!
بوصلها يروى غليل
من بات عاني
With her union, the anguish,
Of the agonized is quenched.
يا ناسى العهد أما
ترعى العهودا
O you who forgot the pact,
Do you not heed pacts?
صددت يا من أجرما
دع الصدودا
You barred the way, O unjust one,
Leave hindering.
وانزل بنا مخيما
تلقى السعودا
And pitch to us a camp,
Where fortunes are found.
فظلنا أضحى ظليل
لكل جاني
Thus we took shade that became,
A shade for every companion.
قد بات من ذل الخمول
مضنى الجنان
The one in the depths of inaction,
Spent the night distressed.
بالرأس صبح الشيب لاح
نبه جناتك
With his head the dawn of old age shone,
It roused his heavens (eyes).
ما لي أراك في مراح
تفنى زمانك
What is with me that I see you,
Wasting your time?
حتى متى هذا الجماح
أمسك عنانك
Until when is this boldness?
Rein in your reigns.
بدرك مال للأفوال
وأنت وانى
Your full moon has inclined,
To misfortunes, and you are blaming me!
ارجع فقد حان الرحيل
كم ذا التوانى
Return, for the time of departure has come,
How long is this delay?
بادر فقد ولى الشباب
إلى المتاب
Initiate, for youth has passed,
To destruction.
عمرك أودى للذهاب
هل من إياب
Your life eroded unto demise,
Is there any return?
ما فى فنائك ارتياب
كم ذا التصاب
In your end, there is no doubt,
How long is this suffering?
قف بالربوع والطلول
ففى المغاني
Stand at the hills and dales,
For in temptations,
زجر لأرباب العقول
عند العيان
Is an admonishment for the reasonable,
In the things witnessed.
باللَه يا ريح الشمال
عند الهبوب
O north wind,
When blowing,
ألا ابلغى عن ذي خبال
إلى الحبيب
Inform the narcissist,
About the beloved:
صغى سقام ذي اعتلال
إلى الطبيب
“The unhealthy says, listen,
To the healer:
قولى له إنني عليك
وقد جفاني
Say to him, ‘I miss you,
You abandoned me.
وعاقني عن الوصول
جور الزمان
And the tyranny of time prevented me,
From attaining union."
