  1. مر النسيم مع الأسحار يشجيني

    ونغمةُ الورق في الأفنان تفنيني

    The morning breeze blows by, reviving me,

    And the rustling of leaves in the branches soothes me.

  2. والأسى والورد والخيرى ينعشنى

    والأقحوان مع النسرين تسبيني

    Melancholy, roses, and blessings refresh me,

    While partridges and falcons entice me.

  3. وفي صبا الريح إن هبّت يمانية

    عرفٌ عرفنا به نشر الرياحين

    When the north wind blows at dawn,

    Its fragrance helps spread the winds' scent.

  4. ورقة البثّ والشكوى تهيجني

    وبالصبابة والأشواق تغريني

    The leaf of complaint and lament stirs me,

    And with passion and longing it tempts me.

  5. أصبحت أسحب ذيلي في الهوى مرحاً

    موله القلب في عرض المجانين

    I now happily drag my tail in love,

    With a heart crazed among the insane.

  6. أصيحُ بين خيام الحي باسمهم

    رقوا لملتهب الأحشاء محزون

    I cry out his name among the tents,

    Softened by the burning entrails, distressed.

  7. ما إن له ملجأ إلا جنابكم

    إن تطردوني فمن في الخلق يؤويني

    I have no refuge but in you,

    If you dismiss me, who will shelter me?

  8. أو ترحموني فكم من عطفةٍ لكم

    إليكم بجميل اللطف تدنيني

    If you show mercy, how gracious you are!

    With kindness you gently draw me to you.

  9. أوليتني منناً جلّت مواهبها

    فاستصحب الفضل فيما كنت توليني

    You have granted me immense gifts,

    So favor accompanies me, as you support me.

  10. ما لي شفيع سوى ذلى ومسكنتي

    فلترحم اليوم مسكين المساكين

    I have no intercessor but my humility and destitution,

    So have mercy today on the most wretched of the wretched.

  11. صلوا وصدوا فما شئتم أشاء وما

    ترضون من محنتي في الحب يرضيني

    Pray and repel as you wish, and I will desire what

    you find satisfactory of my torment in passion.

  12. متى أرى في ظلال الوصل أرفل في

    ثوب التداني وداعي القرب يدعوني

    When will I see myself reveling in the shadows of union,

    Wearing the garment of intimacy, with the confidant calling me?

  13. لأهجرن الورى طرا وألزم ما

    حييت بابكم فذاكم ديني

    I will abandon the world and devote my life

    to your door, for that is my religion.

  14. معفر الخد في ترب الديار فلا

    شيء سوى قربكم في الدهر يسليني

    With cheeks rubbing the soil of the abode, nothing

    but your nearness in life consoles me.

  15. قربت نفسي قربانا وليس سوى

    نفسي ووجدى جعلت اليوم سكيني

    I have offered my soul as a sacrifice, as nothing

    but my soul and passion have I made my blades today.

  16. فلتقيلوا إن قبلتم في الهوى قربى

    وباسمكم عند أخذ الروح غنوني

    So rest me if you accept my proximity in love,

    And at my soul's taking, sing me your name.

  17. فالقتل فيكم حياة لا نفاد لها

    والفقد فيكم وجود العيش فاحيوني

    For death in you is endless life,

    And in you, loss is the existence of living, so revive me!
