1. أرى ساقى الأنواء قد أسكر القضبا

    وروض سماء الزهر قد أطلع الشهبا

    I see the clouds' water-bearer has made the twigs drunk,

    And the garden of the sky has blossomed with meteors.

  2. سقاها انسكاب المزن كأساً روية

    فمالت تثنى في خمائلها عجبا

    It gave it a draft of pure wine from the pouring rain,

    So it swayed, bending in ecstasy with wonder.

  3. وغنّت بها ورقُ الحمائم سحرة

    فلم يبق شكواها لذى لوعة لبا

    And the leaves of doves sang to it at dawn,

    So none of its complaints to the suffering heart remained.

  4. تطارح في دوح الأراك هديلها

    وتشكو صبابات تهيج بها صبا

    It whispers in the bosom of meadows its murmur,

    And complains of the zephyrs that stir it at dawn.

  5. ترجع ألحاناً بأفنان قضبها

    فتحكى دموع العين في سحها السحبا

    It returns melodies in the rhythms of its twigs,

    Relating the tears of the eye in its drifting clouds.

  6. وهبّت بعرف الزهر ريح بليلةٌ

    فمرّت وقد أحيا تنشقها الغلبا

    A night breeze blew in the flower bed,

    Passing by, bursting through its thickness.

  7. وجرّت على الأكام أذيال بردها

    فأرج طيباً نفحها الأفق والتربا

    It dragged its train on the dunes,

    Its cool breath perfumed the horizon and the soil.

  8. فقلنا شذى ذكر النبي سرت به

    وإلا فما هذا الذكاء الذي هبا

    We said: The scent of the Prophet has passed through it,

    Else, what is this alertness that blew in it?

  9. نبيّ كريم جل قدر علائهِ

    وفاق كما لأمجده العجم والعربا

    A noble prophet, exalted is his value,

    His glory surpassed, as the non-Arabs and Arabs vie to eulogize him.

  10. له الشمس والأقمار تعنو مهابة

    ولم لا وذاك النور قد خرّق الحجبا

    The sun and moons yield to his awe,

    Why not, as that light rent veils apart?

  11. لقد عطر الآفاق عرف ثنائه

    كما طبقت آياته الشرق والغربا

    The fragrance of his praise has scented the horizons,

    As his signs enveloped East and West alike.

  12. على كل ذي مجد وفخر وسؤدد

    بما حازه من مكرمات العلا أربى

    To every possessor of glory, pride, and high rank,

    For what he attained of noble virtues he is most worthy.

  13. نفوس ذوى الألباب تاهت بحبه

    فهامت به شوقاً ودانت له حبّا

    The souls of the wise were perplexed with love of him,

    So they became passionate for him and submissive in their love.

  14. له البشر طبع والسماح سجية

    وقاصده يلقى البشاشة والرحبا

    He is naturally kind and generous,

    Whoever meets him finds affability and vastness.

  15. نزلنا بقرب الهاشمي محمد

    فنلنا به من ربنا القرب والعتبى

    We alighted near the Hashimite Muhammad,

    So through him we attained nearness and favor from our Lord.

  16. سما مجده الأسمى على كل مرسل

    فلاشك في علياه كلا ولا ريبا

    His supreme glory transcended every messenger,

    Without doubt or suspicion in his supremacy.

  17. لقد شفّنى شوق إليه مبرح

    فلله دمع فوق خدى همى سكبا

    Yearning for him cured me, euphoric,

    So for God, my tears poured down my cheeks in my fervor.

  18. على عهودٌ للمطايا وثيقةٌ

    إذا أوردتني ذلك المورد العذبا

    With firm covenants to the riding-beasts,

    If they should lead me to that sweet halt.

  19. أقبّل أخفاقا لها ومناسماً

    وأبدلها من جدب عيشتها خصبا

    I will kiss their cheekbones and their resting places,

    And replace their barren livelihood with fertility.

  20. فيا نسمة الأسحار من نحو أرضهم

    فؤادي من تلقاك يستروح الأنبا

    O morning breeze, from the direction of their lands,

    My heart is refreshed and vitalized by your tidings.

  21. عسى نفحات البشر من أرض طيبة

    ستجبر قلبا قسمته النوى نهبا

    Perhaps the good tidings of mankind from a blessed land

    Will mend a heart torn apart by separation's plunder.

  22. ففى ظل مغناهم غناء نفوسنا

    وفى حيهم تحيى نفوس ذوت جدبا

    In the shade of their love our souls find song,

    And in their neighborhood revive souls dried of sap.

  23. وكل عليل سلمه فرط بعده

    فمن ساحة الأحباب يلتمس الطبا

    Every ailing soul they restored beyond hope

    Seeks a cure in the field of loved ones.

  24. وإني على عهدى وحبى لم يزل

    لساني بأمداحي وشكرى لهم رطبا

    My covenant and love for them remains,

    My tongue moist with my praise and thanks to them.

  25. عليهم سلام الله ما حنّ شيقٌ

    إليهم وحثّ السير واستنجد الركبا

    Upon them, God's peace, for as long as the lovesick

    Yearn for them, spur on the journey, and seek the company of riders.
