غادرت عرضي عرضة وابحته

وتركت نهب نفائس ونفوس

خيل كأمثال الاجادل فوقها

ليس غطارف عامدون لليس

Horses like solid mountains bearing warriors

Not merely vain youths dressed for parade

فاذا كسوناكم حداد مأتم

ابنا بصافية الاديم عروس

When we drape you in mourning's somber shroud

Sons of radiant virtue the bride's groom

نسقيكم خمر الردى بصوارم

ونعل من خمر المنى بكؤوس

We shall serve you the wine of doom in our swords

And cups brimming with the wine of purpose
