الدنيا عبور

كم قد عبر قبلنا ناس

Life is but a passage

How many have passed before us

لك فيها مرور

فاحذرتكن للفناناس

You have in it a crossing

So beware not to be among the oblivious

هي رأس الشرور

للجاهل الغافل القاس

It is the source of evils

For the ignorant and harsh forgetful one

فيها كم خيور

لمن عمل قبل الأرماس

In it how much have been lost

For those who worked before it got dark

فاذكر للمات

واعمل ومهدلا خراك

So remember the deceased

And work and do not feel assured

لا تمسي رفات

ولم تصلح لمثواك

Do not end up remains

And you did not prepare your burial place

قم قبل الفوات

واكسب وشمر لعقباك

Arise before it is too late

And earn and roll up your sleeves

واطلب كل نور

فجرك وهجرك والأغلاس

And seek all light

Your dawn, your departure, and the shackles

واصلح للفؤاد

تصلح به كل الأحوال

And correct the heart

To correct all states

تظفر بالمراد

ولا ترى قط الأهوال

You will attain what you desire

And never see any horrors

واترك للعباد

واطلب علو ما وأعمال

And leave it to the servants

And seek the highest of deeds

تحمد في النشور

إذ نظرت أهل الأفلاس

You will be praised on the day of resurrection

When you see the people of loss

يا معطي الجزيل

يا رب يا رب يا رب

O Giver of bounty

O Lord, O Lord, O Lord

انظر للعليل

أصلحه من قبل يخرب

Look upon the ailing one

Reform him before he is ruined

جمل يا جميل

واجعله عندك مقرب

Do good, O Beautiful One

And make him, near You, brought close
