  1. يا حسرتي ضاع عمري في البطالات

    وفي اكتساب المعاصي والخطيئات

    Oh my sorrow, my life was wasted in laziness

    And in acquiring sins and mistakes

  2. وفي فجور وفي زور وفي لعب

    وفي غرور وفي عجب وآفات

    And in debauchery and in falsehood and in play

    And in arrogance and in conceit and in evils

  3. وفي نفاق وفي كبره وفي طمع

    وفي الريا والتفاخر والمباهات

    And in hypocrisy and in pride and in greediness

    And in pretentiousness, boasting and ostentation

  4. وفي نكوث وفي غد واصرار

    وفي الخيانة مع مكر وروغات

    And in betrayal, deceit, insistence

    And in treachery with cunning and plotting

  5. وفي الخديعة والغل مع حسد

    والحقد بل والشماتة والعداوات

    And in deception and wrongdoing with envy

    And hatred and even gloating and enmities

  6. وفي التحسس وسوء الظن مع أمل

    وخوف فقر وحرص والقساوات

    And in suspicion and ill thoughts with hope

    And fear of poverty, stinginess and cruelties

  7. وفي اغتياب وفي سب وفي كذب

    وفي فضول وأقوال رديئات

    And in backbiting and in insults and in lies

    And in meddling and in bad words

  8. وأكل سحت بلا خوف مع الشبع

    وفي النظر للنساء الأجنبيات

    And in eating illegitimately without fear or contentment

    And in looking at foreign women

  9. وفي استماع إلى أقوال مردية

    وكل ما ليس يعنيني له آت

    And in listening to obscene words

    And everything that does not concern me comes to me

  10. وترك أمر بمعروف بلا سبب

    وترك نهى المناكير المهولات

    And in abandoning enjoinment of right without reason

    And abandoning forbidding atrocious wrongdoings

  11. وفي معاص كبيرات عظيمات

    مع الدعاوي الطويلات العريضات

    And in committing major great sins

    With lengthy wide claims

  12. يا رب يا رب يا رحمن يا صمد

    اغفر لعبدك أوزارى الكثيرات

    Oh Lord, Oh Lord, Oh Beneficent, Oh Eternal

    Forgive Your servant his many heavy burdens

  13. فضلا ومنا واحسانا وموهبة

    جودا وبرا لماضيها وما يأتي

    Out of grace, favor and kindness and gift

    Generosity and righteousness for his past and future

  14. هذا وظني جميل في الجميل بان

    وكيف لا وهو معطي كل خيرات

    This is my good assumption of the Good Doer

    How can it not be when He grants all good things

  15. فكم وكم جادكم أعطى بلا سبب

    وكم فتح كم منح كم من عطيات

    So many, so many are the gifts You have granted without cause

    And so many gates of gifts have You opened

  16. سبحانه جل ذو الفضل العظيم الذي

    به به عند يسراتي وعسراتي

    Glory to You, Most Generous, Great Bestower

    Through whom I attain ease and hardship

  17. لا حول لي ولا قوة لي أبدا

    رفضت دعواي وأسبابي وحيلاتي

    I have no power or strength ever

    I refused my supplications and means and tricks

  18. واستغفر الله من كل الذنوب ومن

    جميع فعلي من خير وسيات

    And I seek forgiveness from God for all sins

    And for all my good and evil deeds

  19. وألفا صلاة على المختار يتبعها

    ألفا سلام مداد البحر مرات

    And a thousand prayers upon the Chosen One followed by

    A thousand greetings, the ink of the sea repeated

  20. والآل والصحب ثم التابعين لهم

    في كل يوم عداد الرمل ذرات

    And upon his family and companions and then their followers

    Every day numerous like the motes of sand

  21. والحمدلله رب العالمين على

    جميع إنعامه الماضي وما يأتي

    And praise be to Allah Lord of all Worlds for

    All His past and future favors
