  1. ضاعت الأعمار في قيل وقال

    وأمور ترهات وضلال

    The years have passed in gossip and lies

    And foolish, misguided affairs

  2. وفضول واعتراض للقضا

    وخباط وخراط وخبال

    And meddling, objecting to destiny

    And nonsense and rubbish and trifles

  3. تورث الأحزان في الدنيا وفي

    حشرنا والقبر توجب للنكال

    That cause sorrow in this life and on

    The Day we're resurrected and deserve torment

  4. هل ترى يرضى بهذا عاقل

    ينفق الوقت وأنفاسا غوال

    Does a reasonable man accept this

    Wasting time and breath on nonsense

  5. في هموم وغموم عاجلا

    ثم تسقيه غدا كل وبال

    On worries and griefs of this world

    Then tomorrow made to drink disaster

  6. فاصمت اسكت لا تكلم واعتزل

    واترك المذموم في قول أو فعال

    So be silent, do not speak and isolate yourself

    And leave the blamable in words or deeds

  7. واترك الناس ومل عنهم ولا

    تختلط بالناس فاسمع للمقال

    And leave people and turn away from them and do not

    Mix with people, so listen to this advice

  8. والخمول الزم ودع كل الفضول

    واتق الله الكبير المتعال

    And persist in seclusion and leave all meddling

    And fear God, the Great, the Exalted

  9. إنه الكنز الذي ما مثله

    ينفع الإنسان حالا ومآل

    He is the treasure the like of which

    Benefits man now and in the end

  10. فالغني كل الغنى كل الغنى

    في التقى يا صاح خذه رأس مال

    Complete wealth, complete wealth

    Is in piety, oh preacher, take it as capital

  11. إنه الباقي وغيره هالك

    وهولك خل رقيق لا يزال

    He is the Everlasting, all else perishes

    Foolish trifles that do not last

  12. واصحب الرحمن لا تصحب سواه

    واسأل الرحمن تظفر بالنوال

    And befriend the Merciful, befriend no other

    And ask the Merciful, you will attain the gift

  13. واطلب الرحمن جل ذكره

    إن ترد تعطي العطيات الجزال

    And seek the Merciful, glorious is His mention

    If you want, He will give generous rewards

  14. واذكر الرحمن سرا وعلن

    في جلوسك ومقام وارتحال

    And remember the Merciful secretly and openly

    Sitting, standing, coming and going

  15. كل شيء هالك إلا الإله

    فازمن يذكره في كل حال

    Everything perishes except God

    So persist in remembering Him at all times

  16. ما سوى الله الكريم ميت

    إنما الباقي آلهك ذو الجلال

    Nothing but the Bountiful God lives

    The Everlasting is your God, Lord of Majesty

  17. إنما نجزي بما تعمل فكن

    بالذي ينفعك ياذاذا اشتغال

    We only recompense what you do, so be

    Occupied with what benefits you, oh man of works

  18. ربنا ياربنا ياربنا

    رب ثبتنا إذا جا الانتقال

    Our Lord, our Lord, our Lord

    Lord, make us steadfast when death comes

  19. واختم الأعمار بالحسنى وكن

    غافرا يارب أوزار اثقال

    And seal our lives with good and be

    Forgiving, Lord, of heavy burdens

  20. لا تؤاخذنا بسو أعمالنا

    إنها ياربنا شر الخصال

    Do not punish us for evil deeds

    They are, our Lord, the worst traits

  21. وصلاة الله تغشى أحمدا

    وسلام الله ماهب الشمال

    And may God's prayers grace Ahmad

    And God's peace for as long as bats fly left

  22. وعلى آل وأصحاب له

    وعلى أزواجه ما غصن مال

    And on his family and companions

    And his wives for as long as wealth lasts

  23. ولربي الحمد والشكر على

    نعم تترى وفضل لا يزال

    And to my Lord be praise and thanks for

    Blessings that continue and endless grace
