باسمك اللهم أبدى ما خطر

لي ببالي إذ بذا جاء الخبر

In your name O Allah, I express what came to my mind

When this news came

وصلاة الله تغشى المصطفى

أحمد المختار من نسل مضر

And may Allah's prayers envelop Al-Mustafa

Ahmad the Chosen One from the lineage of Mudar

وعلى الأصحاب والآل ومن

سار في منهجهم يقفو الأثر

And upon his companions, his family and those who

Followed in their methodology, tracing their tracks

أيها الراغب في نيل العلا

جدان الجد مفتاح الظفر

O you who aspires to attain knowledge

Perseverance is the key to success

إن من جد ولج واجتهد

جاءه كل عسير مؤتسر

Indeed whoever perseveres, insists and makes an effort

Every difficulty comes to him easy

فبقدر ما تعني ستنل

ما تمنى فاتعبن أكبر قدر

According to what you strive for, you will attain

What you wish so make the most effort

والحمق كل الحمق كل الحمق

من يرحم خيرا ويغدو وفي بطر

Such foolishness, such foolishness

Is he who shows mercy and gets up while in ruin

ارفع الهمة لا ترض بما

يرضه كل دنى محتقر

Raise your ambition, do not accept what

Every lowly despised one accepts

كل ما يعنيك فالزمه وما

ليس يعنيك من الأشياء فذر

Hold on to all that concerns you and leave

Whatever does not concern you of things

وارفض الدنيا وذرها انها

هم في الحال وفي يوم المفر

And reject the life of this world and leave it be

It is worry in the present and on the day of separation

كلما قد زيد مالا صاحب المال

زيد في الهموم والكدر

The more money the money owner makes

The more worries and sorrows increase

حسب من يبغي النجاة ما يقم

صلبه من أي قوت قد حضر

It suffices one who wants salvation what his

Body can withstand of any available provision

من حلال فالورع أس البنا

فالحذران تقرب السحت الحذر

Of the lawful, so piety is the foundation of building

So beware, precautions bring you closer to the cautious

إن في ظل الأراك غنية

لا ولي الألباب أرباب الفكر

Indeed in the shade of the trees is richness

Not known to the sane, the intelligent thinkers

اطلب العلم ولازم أهله

واصحب أهل الخير واترك من فجر

Seek knowledge and stick to its people

And accompany the people of goodness and leave whoever transgressed

دونك الصمت فلازمه ولا

تعدلنعنه وإياك الهذر

Observe silence so stick to it and do

Not alternate from it, beware of babbling

إن في الصمت لمنجاة لمن

كان ذا عقل ولب من ضرر

Indeed in silence lies salvation for those

Of intellect and protected hearts from harm

بل وفي الصمت لستر للذي

ليس ذا عقل شبيه بالبقر

But also in silence lies concealment for those

Without intellect, resembling cattle

واتق الله ولا تعبا بمن

قال خيرا فيك أو قال بشر

And fear Allah and do not weary with whoever

Spoke good of you or spoke evil

إن مرضاة الخلائق غاية

ليس تدرك قد جرى ذا بالقدر

Indeed pleasing people is an aim

That cannot be attained, it has been destined

واقبل العذر ولو من كاذب

واكتم السر وال تفش خبر

And accept the apology even from a liar

And conceal secrets and do not divulge news

وخذ العفو ومر بالعرف وأهل

الضرورات وصل من لك هجر

And pardon others and pass by custom and people

Of dire needs, reconnect with those who boycotted you

وصل الأرحام واهل الخير وأهل

الضرورات وصل من لك هجر

And uphold the ties of kinship and people of goodness and people

Of dire needs, reconnect with those who boycotted you

وبحق الجار لا تغفل ولا

تنتصر ممن ظلمك أو قهر

And do not neglect the rights of your neighbor and do not

Take revenge on those who oppressed you or overpowered you

واحتمل كل أذى الناس وخذ

من جميع الناس أيسر ما بدر

And endure all the people’s harm and take

From all people the easiest that comes your way

وتوسط في الأمور كلها

وتواضع لتحوز المفتخر

And moderate in all matters

And be humble so you may gain pride

وتان في الأمور فلقد

طال حزن من بذا لم يؤتمر

And be deliberate in matters for sadness has

Lasted long for those who did not take heed

كلما يعييك إن تسدده

فالحذر من فتحه كل الحذر

Whenever you try to straighten what tires you

Then beware of leaving it open, be very wary

احزم الناس الذي لا يقرب بالورد

حتى يعرفن كيف الصدر

The most astute of people is he who does not come close with roses

Until they know how the chest is

وازرع الخيرات تحصدها وهل

يحصد الإنسان إلا ما بذر

And plant virtues to harvest them for does

A person harvest except what he planted?

واستخرفي كل أمر شئته

واستشر أهل البصائر والعبر

And seek counsel regarding any matter you desire

And consult the experts and those of wisdom and lessons

كل شخص ماله من قلبه

واعظ فالوعظ فيه كالحجر

Everyone acts based on their heart

So advice to them is like rocks

واعبد الله ولازم أمره

وتجنب كل ما عنه زجر

And worship Allah and stick to His commands

And avoid all He prohibited

واشكر الله على آلائه

ولدى البلوى فكن مع من صبر

And thank Allah for His blessings

And when afflicted, then be patient

والزم التوبة لا تنقضها

أنها أول باب للممر

And stick to repentance, do not invalidate it

For it is the first passageway

كل من سر بشر سوف إذ

يدخل القبر يسوءه ما أسر

Everyone who was secretly happy will be miserable when

He enters the grave with what he had kept secret

والهوى دعه فمن تابعه

سوف يهويه هواه في سقر

And desire, leave it be for whoever follows it

His desires will plunge him into Hellfire

وثقن بالله في كل أمل

واعملن بالعلم وارض بالقدر

And trust in Allah regarding every hope

And act with knowledge and be content with destiny

واحذر الشح وحرصا والحسد

والطمع والغش مع كل قذر

And beware miserliness, greed, jealousy

Greed, deceit and every filth

كالعجب والكبر والغيبة والشتم

والغدر فبئس من غدر

Like arrogance, pride, backbiting, insult

Betrayal for miserable is he who betrays

ذه نصيحة فاستمعها وأحمد الله

ربي أذبها الخلق أمر

This is advice so listen to it and thank Allah

My Lord who commanded good manners for people

ربنا ياربنا ياربنا

كن لنا حال الإقامة والسفر

Our Lord, Our Lord, Our Lord

Be there for us residence and travel

واعطنا من فضلك الواسع ما

لأعلى قلب من الناس خطر

And grant us from Your vast favor what

Came to the best of hearts of people

واختم الأعمار بالحسنى إذا

حان منا الانتقال للحفر

And conclude our lifespans with the best when

The time comes for us to depart to the burials

وصلاة الله تغشى أحمدا

والسلام كلما نجم ظهر

And may Allah’s prayers envelop Ahmad

And peace whenever a star appears

تتغشاه وتغشى آله

نعم الأقوام المصابيح الغرر

Enveloping him and his progeny

What great people, the shining lanterns

وعلى الأصحاب دأبا سرمدا

عدد الرمل وأوراق الشجر

And upon his companions, continuously forever

As numerous as the sand and leaves of trees
