أيها العبد إن شئت الأمان

والرضا والإقامة في الجنان

O servant, if you want safety,

Contentment, and staying in Paradise,

احذر احذر من آفات اللسان

إنها الموجبة دار الهوان

Beware, beware of the evils of the tongue,

For they cause humiliation and disgrace.

لاتجى يا أخي قالا وقيل

إنها مورثة شر المقيل

Do not, my brother, say hearsay,

For it causes much harm and grief,

والبكا والفضيحة والعويل

والحزن والكدر والإمتحان

And crying, scandal, and wailing,

And sorrow, distress, and tribulation.

أيها العبد دع هذا الكلام

أنه جله لوم أو حرام

O servant, leave such talk,

For it is mostly blame or forbidden,

والزم الصمت إن شئت السلام

من مضراته كل آن

And stick to silence if you want peace,

From its harms at every moment.

كم ورد في مذمات الفضول

عن شفيع الورى الهادي الرسول

How much has been revealed of the evils of gossip,

From the intercessor of mankind, the guiding Messenger,

فاقرأ الأحيا وتيسير الوصول

تعترفإن حفظ القول شان

So read the sayings and the facilitation to arrive,

You will admit that guarding speech is the way.

وهل يكب الخلائق في الجحيم

للمناخر سوى القول الذميم

And does Noah throw people into hell,

Except for the vile word?

ثم من كان يؤمن بالرحيم

فليقل خيرا ويصمت يصان

So whoever believes in the Merciful,

Should speak good and be silent to be safe.

بل ومن حسن إسلامك ترى

ترمي ما ليس يعنيك ورا

Rather, the best of your Islam you see,

Is to discard what does not concern you,

وابك ذنبك ودع قول الورى

ولتسعك الدويرة والمكان

And rebuke your own sin and leave the talk of others,

And suffice yourself with the monastery and the place.

رب لفظه بها يهوى الأنام

في جهنم كذا سبعين عام

How the Prophet censures those,

Who make what they say to people as their faith!

والسخط كم وقع دائم دوام

من كليمه بهاء المرء استهان

They are like the poets of old

To whom great sins were no burden.

أبغض الخلق للهاذي تراه

أكثر الناس فكاللهاه

And know that disasters all,

Stem from sitting with those who have them,

في فضول وشيء ماعناه

هكذا جاءت أخبار حسان

And staying away from the people of prohibition,

Those whose state and meanings elevate you.

والحديث أن أشرار الأنام

من تغذوا بألوان الطعام

For like cleaves to like in nature,

And a companion accompanies his peer,

همهم في التشدق بالكلام

والتفيهق بها في كل اوان

Resembling him in attributes and deeds,

So said the one who attained knowledge.

واعلم أن السلامه في السكوت

والتحصن بأجواف البيوت

So listen to the words of our noble master,

When he advises Obeid the jurist,

والقناعة من الدنيا بقوت

من حلال وتترك كل فان

And warns him from every fool-

That is the whole poem, O man!

وحذيفه يقول كان الرجل

في زمان النبي خير الرسل

O Obeid, withdraw in this time,

From the prattlers with tongues,

يتكلم بكلمه لم يقل

غيرها شؤمها يبقى الزمان

You see their bodies shining in attire,

While their inner souls are filled with guile.

إنها منكم في كل يوم

ظاهره فاشيه من غير لوم

I describe them like the attributes of wolves,

Wearing clothes over bodies,

عشر مرات تأتى أين قوم

يحذرون أو يخافون افتتان

Entering by hypocrisy through every door,

And they have let loose evils unrestrained.

قال بعض الصحابه إنكم

تفعلون لاشيا عندكم

They resemble scorpions, pigs, and rams,

I wish they were in the furthest wilderness!

كالشعر والذين قبلكم

عندهم من كبيرات لارزان

They have no joy but in dissent,

And evil gossip among the riffraff,

واعلم إن المصايب كلها

في جلوسك إلى من قد لها

And gossip, deception, hypocrisy,

They have never enjoyed anything good.

وابتعادك عن أرباب النهى

من يرقيك حاله والمعان

We ask Allah, our noble Master,

The Subtle, Kind One to protect the devout one,

فالخليل كخله في الخلال

والجليس جليسه له مثال

From the evils of temperaments and women,

God is enough for us, the best to be sought!

يشبهه في صفاته والفعال

هكذا قال من لاقط مان

May God clarify for the Muslims,

May God suffice the evil of oppressors,

فاستمع قول سيدنا الوجيه

حين يوصي عبودين الفقيه

The Guardian, God of all worlds,

Whatever the Merciful decreed, it was!

ويحذر من كل سفيه

هاك كل القصيده يا فلان

And I ask Allah for a sincere repentance,

For aspirations in worship are deficient,

ياعبود انقبض في ذا الزمان

من رجال اللقالق باللسان

And souls dancing in disobedience!

Enough that death and Qur'an admonish!

تنظر أبدانهم تبرق زيان

والبواطن ملانه بالدمان

Then bestow peace upon the guiding Messenger,

Ahmad the Chosen one, pure minds,

وصفهم مثل أوصاف الذياب

لابسين فوق الأجساد الثياب

And Al-Hassan, Al-Hussain and the Virgin,

And the noble companions.

يدخلون بالنفاق في كل باب

واطلقوا في المضرات العنان

Thus ends the words of our advisor ,

Whose every word is beautiful.

يشبهون العقارب والحناش

والبقر والأباعر والكباش

It has emerged from a heart of integrity,

Every saying like the heavens.

ليتهم كانوا في أقصى الحباش

كدر واصفو أنوار المكان

Blessed is he who listens to the righteous,

The guiding, advising caregivers.

ما لهم لذه إلا في الشقاق

والعلاق والوقاوق في الرقاق

Happy is he in the world and faith,

And receives his wishes in every matter.

والنمم والتغاري والنفاق

ما لهم قط في الخير امتعان

Like the words of our beloved master,

Truly his touch is that of a healer,

نطلب الله مولانا الكريم

اللطيف العطوف يحرس تريم

So follow his saying and repent,

As exemplified versified like fine pearls.

من خباث الطبايع والحريم

حسبنا الله نعم المستعان

How can you be content in an abode that perishes,

Its core filled with work and worries,

يجلي لاله هم المسلمين

يكفي الله شر الظالمين

And suffering, tribulations and sorrows,

Reject it for it is insignificant and disdained!

المهيمن إله العالمين

كل ما قدر الرحمن كان

This abode contains no happiness,

That is empty of the incorporation of evils.

وأسأل الله توبه خالصه

فالهمم في العباده ناقصه

Whoever loves it, his mind wanders,

Among rubbish and disgrace!

والنفوس في المعاصي راقصه

يكفي الموت واعظ والقران

How many, how many pieces of advice before,

The days have passed in advising people,

ثم صلوا على الهادي الرسول

أحمد المصطفى زاكي العقول

Like that of Al-Ghazali the Imam,

So read his sayings and ponder them with elation!

والحسن والحسين ثم البتول

والصحابه هم القوم الحسان

Read the sayings if you want life,

Read the sayings if you want salvation,

إنتهى قول سيدنا النصيح

الذي قوله كله مليح

Read the sayings to bring you near God,

And you will see truth clearly as witnessed!

قد خرج من فؤاد له صحيح

كل قول له حال الجنان

Read the sayings and make them your companion,

For he is the caring, sweet friend.

بخت من يستمع للصالحين

الهداة الدعاة الناصحين

He is money and treasure most precious!

The best company teaching you eloquence!

ذاك سعيد بهم دنيا ودين

وينال المنى في كل شان

Meet none but him ever,

You will be inspired with righteousness and avoid mistakes,

مثل أقوال سيدنا الحبيب

ذاك حدادهم نعم الطبيب

For he is justice without excess or fault!

All is weighed with the scale of justice!

فاتبع قوله تدعى منيب

مثل ما قال نظما كالجمان

May God guide the heart to the straight path,

Having tread the path made straight,

كيف ترضى بدنيا لا تدوم

حشوها الشغل دأبا والهموم

And follow the Sunnah of the noble guide-

He who expounded it and the Qur'an!

والعنا والبلايا والغموم

فارفضوها أنها النزر المهان

This saying was stated by just leaders,

Advising sincerely for God and the Messenger,

هذه الدار ما فيها سرور

قط يخلو عن إخلاط الشرور

The people of secrets, truth and heroism,

They have walked the line of the safe path!

كل من حبها عقله يدور

في خلال المزابل والهوان

And remember God and He will remember you,

Your Lord who gives generously.

كم وكم من نصايح من أمام

دابه الوقت في نصح الأنام

Stand at His door and beware to lean-

Ruined is he who is distracted from Him for a moment!

مثل ذاك الغزالي الأمام

فاقرأ أحياه خصه بامتعان

Ruined, ruined is he who forgets the Bountiful!

Ruined, ruined is he who forgets the Merciful!

فاقرأ الأحيا إذا شئت الحياة

إقرأ الأحيا إذا شئت النجاه

Ruined, ruined is he who forgets the Almighty!

That heedless one has incurred loss!

إقرا الأحيا يقربك الإله

وترى الحق حقا كالعيان

Do not meet him, my friend, for I advise you sincerely,

Do not go to him for he is a clear harm,

إقرأ الأحيا وصيره الجليس

إنه الناصح الخل الأنيس

Do not interact with him lest affliction reaches you,

Who touches filth, becomes filthy!

إنه المال والكنز النفيس

خير صاحب يعلمك البيان

We ask God to correct the hearts,

We ask God to forgive sins,

لا تجالس سواه الآن قط

تلهم الرشد تحفظ من غلط

And that He accepts the repentance of His sinning servant,

A repentance of sincerity erasing all evil!

إنه القسط ما فيه شطط

كل وازن بذي الميزان زان

And complete my life with good, O Lord,

And protect us from every harm and adversity,

يأت الله بالقلب السليم

قد سلك للصراط المستقيم

And guard the heart so that none enters it but You!

Fortify it from all else, with every fortress!

واتبع سنة الهادي الكريم

إنه شرحها بل والقران

We have none to give us but You,

We have no guide but Your guidance,

قال ذا القول سادات عدول

نصح لله حقا والرسول

We have no healing but from Your healing,

Grace us when for us there is no recourse!

أهل الأسرار والصدق والفحول

استقاموا على حد السنان

Then bestow peace and blessings always,

As long as lightning flashes or cloud drifts,

واذكر الله يذكرك الجليل

ربك الله ذي يعطي الجزيل

Upon the Messenger whose thirst is quenched,

With what gushes from the manifest spring!

قف على بابه واحذر تميل

خاب من يشتغل عنه بثان

And upon his noble companions and progeny,

Who ascended to the highest station,

خاب في خاب من نسي الكريم

خاب في خاب من نسي الرحيم

Remembering them is a mercy dispelling darkness!

Loving them is an obligatory faith held fast!

خاب في خاب من نسي العظيم

ذاك غافل عليه الخسربان

And to You belongs praise without end,

Counting Your grace, existence and aid,

لا تجالسه إني لك نصيح

لا تجيه إنه الضر القبيح

For Your blessings cannot be enumerated,

Not by words or the writing of fingers!

لا تخالطه يعديك الجريح

من يد إني لدان فهو دان

That my Lord may kindly accept,

And act upon what I know and say!

نسأل الله يصلح للقلوب

نسأل الله يغفر للذنوب

We ask God, Unique of Munificence!

وعلى عبده المذنب يتوب

توبة الصدق تمحو كل ران

واختم العمر يارب بخير

واكفنا كل مكروه وضير

واحفظ القلب لا يدخله غير

صنه عن غيركم كل الصوان

مالنار بنا معطي سواك

مالنا من هدى الأهداك

مالنا من شفا الأشفاك

جد لمن لا له في شيء يدان

ثم صل وسلم دائما

ما سرى البرق أو مزن همي

تتغشى النبي مروي الظما

من يديه بما نابع عيان

والصحابات والآل لكرام

من ترقوا إلى أعلى مقام

ذكرهم رحمة تجلى الظلام

حبهم فرض دين به يدان

ولك الحمد حمدا لا يعد

عد فضلك وجودك والمدد

إن نعماك لا تحصى بحد

لا بقول ولارقم البنان

تم قولي وأسأل بالرسول

إن يمن إلهي بالقبول

والعمل بالذي أعلم وقول

نسأل الله فردا ذا امتنان
