الحمد لله الجواد الكريم

المعطي المفضل بكل النعيم

Praise be to Allah, the Generous, the Benevolent

The Giver, the One who favors with all bounty

واستغفر اللله الغفور الرحيم

من كل ذنب حادث أو قديم

And I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Forgiving, the Merciful

For every sin, recent or old

يا قلبي السوأما تستقيم

كي تأتي الله بقلب سليم

O my heart, be steadfast and upright

So you may come to Allah with a pure heart

أما ترى الموت الفظيع الشنيع

يغشى البعيد والرحم والحميم

Do you not see death, frightening and appalling

It overcomes both loved ones and strangers

ولا تغرك صحتك كم فتى

أصبح صحيحا ثم أمسى سقيم

Do not be fooled by your health, how many a lad

Woke up healthy, but by evening fell ill

وبعد أيام قضى نحبه

أما إلى الجنة أو للجحيم

And after days, met his end

Either to Paradise or Hellfire

واحذر من الموت وكن مشفقا

منه أخا حزن كئيب كظيم

And beware of death and be anxious about it

A grieving, sorrowful, immense anxiety

عسى عسى الرحمن يغفر لي

ولا يؤاخذني بفعلي الكريم

I hope, I hope the Merciful forgives me

And does not take me to account for my generosity

فليس لي منجي سوى فضله

كفى كفى يكفي الجواد الكريم

For I have no savior but His grace

Enough, enough, the Generous suffices

كم قد بداني بالنوال بما

لم يخطر البال به يا نديم

How much has He favored me with gifts

That never crossed my mind, O intimate friend

أرجو إلهي والرجا فيه لي

ذخري وكنزي والخفر واللزيم

I hope, my God, and my hope is in Him

My provision, treasure, success, and necessity

ثم الصلاة ولاسلام على

من خصه الله بالمقام العظيم

Then peace and blessings be upon

The one God favored with the Greatest Station

والآل والأصحاب ما غردت

الأطيار بالآصال أو بالعتيم

And his family and companions whenever

The birds chirped at dawn or dusk
