رسول الله جئنا زائر ينا

وبالأوزار جئنا مثقلينا

Messenger of Allah, we have come to you as visitors

Burdened with sins, we have come laden

ومن أمر مهول قد عرانا

أتينا هار بين وشاردينا

And with a dreadful matter we have been stripped bare

We came confused and lost

أناس قد طغوا وبغوا علينا

ولا راعوا حقوق الأقربينا

People who have transgressed and rebelled against us

And did not heed the rights of our kin

ونالوا ما تمنوا من أذانا

ولا قنعوا بما فعلوه فينا

They got what they wished from our ears (they insulted us)

And were not content with what they did to us

تشفع أرحم الثقلين فينا

فمازلت شفيع المذنبيا

Intercede, most merciful of the two burdens, for us

For you remain the intercessor of sinners

تشفع سيدي فينا فأنا

من الأهوال جئنا حائرينا

Intercede, my master, for us, for we

Came confused from the horrors

تشفع يارسول الله أنا

بكم ياسيدي مستشفعونا

Intercede, O Messenger of Allah

It is through you, my master, we seek intercession

ألسنا بالقرابة حين ندعي

وبالأولاد ندعي والبنينا

When we claim kinship, and claim children as our own

Do the sons of so-and-so hope for your bounty

أيرجو النفع منك بنو فلان

ويحرمه بنوك الأقربونا

While your closest kin are deprived of it?

Never! Your nobility would not neglect us

فحاشا فضلكم أن تهملونا

ونرجع عن نداكم خائبينا

And we return from your door disappointed

You are the most merciful of hearts

وأنت أرحم الثقلين قلبا

وأرأفهم بهم رفقا ولينا

And the gentlest of them in mercy and softness

And the best at bringing kinsfolk together

وأوصلهم إلى الأرحام طرا

وأكرم من أتى بك مستعينا

And the most generous to those who come to you for aid

Messenger of Allah, we have come to you

رسول الله إنا قد نزلنا

بكم ياخير كل المنزلينا

The best of all places we could alight

Messenger of Allah, we are now sorely tried

رسول الله ضقت الآن ذرعا

وصار القلب مكتر باخرينا

And our hearts grieve heavily

Messenger of Allah, we have come to you

رسول الله إنا قد أتينا

إليكم ناظرين وطامعينا

Looking and hoping

And we hope to attain what we wish for

ونرجوان نفوز بمارجونا

وبالمطلوب نرجع فائزينا

And return successful with that which we sought

Say, my master, you have truly helped them

فقل ياسيدي حقا نصرتهم

وفزتم بالمطالب أجمعينا

And attained all that was asked, collectively

And stand, my master, against our enemies

وقم ياسيدي واقع عدانا

وبدد شملهم شيأ مبينا

And disperse their group entirely

Even if we disobeyed or did wrong

وإن كنا عصينا أو أسأنا

فإن الله خير الغافرينا

God is the best of forgivers

We came with humility, brokenness

وجينا بافتقار وإنكسار

وذل خائفين ونادمينا

Fearful, regretful, debased

We stood submissively at your door

وقفنا تحت بابكم خضوعا

ومن أوزارنا مستغفرينا

Seeking forgiveness for our sins

We did not prolong our complaints

ولم نطل المقالة بالشكاوي

وإكثار التوجع والأنينا

Or overdo our anguish and moaning

For our state is not hidden from you

لأن الحال لا يخفى عليكم

وأنتم بالحوادث عارفونا

And you know fully what has befallen us

But we voiced this out of our distress

ولكنا تروحنا بهذا

لانا سيدي مستوجعونا

For we are pained, my master

So pardon and forgive us, my master

فعفوا سيدي منكم وصفحا

فحلمكم يعم الجاهلينا

For your forbearance embraces the ignorant

And say, “I have fulfilled all your needs

وقل قضيت حوائجكم جميعا

صلحنا شأنكم دنيا ودينا

And mended your affairs, worldly and religious”

May Allah bless you eternally

عليك الله صلى كل حين

وسلم عد أيام السنينا

And grant you peace for the length of years

And your family and companions, and we conclude

وآلك والصحاب ونختمنها

بحمدالله رب العالمينا

With praise to Allah, Lord of all beings
