الحمدلله مولانا الرحيم الغفور

الحمدلله ذي الفضل الكريم الشكور

Praise be to Allah, Our Lord Most Merciful and Forgiving

Praise be to Allah, of endless grace and generosity

الحمدلله تعداد النسا والذكور

الحمدلله تعداد النعم والخيور

Praise be to Allah, as many as all the females and males

Praise be to Allah, as many as all the blessings and boons

الحمدلله كم أسبل علينا ستور

الحمدلله كم قد كف عنا شرور

Praise be to Allah, how much veils He has draped over us

Praise be to Allah, how much evil He has kept from us

رب لك الحمد في الدنيا ويوم النشور

رب لك الحمد حمد دائما كالدهور

My Lord, to You belongs all praise in this life and on Resurrection Day

My Lord, to You belongs all praise, eternal as time itself

رب لك الحمد تعداد الورق والطيور

إني بحمدك وشكرك معترف بالقصور

My Lord, to You belongs all praise, as many as all the leaves and birds

I admit to You my shortcomings, though Your praise I do confer

إني أنا الناسي القاسي الظلوم الكفور

ذا الحق والصدق أما غير هذا فزور

I am the forgetful one, the cruel one, the unjust ingrate

To truth and honesty I aspire; all else is pretense and lies

والخلف في الوعد فاشي والكذب والفجور

وكم نصلي صلاة ليس فيها حضور

To break a promise is vile; so too lying and immorality

How often we pray with no presence of heart or mindfulness

نعلم وندري ولا نعمل ومعنا غرور

نفعل ونلهو كانا لم نصر للقبور

We know yet we do not act; arrogance clouds our moral sense

We act, yet are heedless, as though unaware of the grave's offense

والفكر والهم مستغرق بدنيا الدبور

إلى متى ذا عسى يارب نفحة بنور

Our thoughts immersed in fleeting worldly recompense

How long, my Lord, ere this gloom be pierced by Your light's radiance?

يا رب يا رب يا عالم بذات الصدور

اصلح لنا القلب وارفعنا لعالي القصور

O Lord, O Lord, Knower of hearts, see our repentance

Reform our hearts and raise us to Your lofty eminence

واشرح لنا الصدر بالتسليم لك في الأمور

نرضى بحكمك نفوض في الخفا والظهور

Expand our breasts with surrender to Your governance

We accept Your decree and trust in all that's apparent or hidden

ولا نرى قط غيرك يا العظيم الصبور

نسير بالشرع ما عنه نزيغ أو نحور

None but You, O Lord Forbearing, do our eyes envision

We follow Your law, never deviating from Your volition

نرى المصايب فوايد حيث فيها أجور

لأنه العدل جل الله عن أن يجور

We see tribulations as gain, so manifold the rewards therein

For You are The Just; exalted are You from all injustice or wrong

بل طيها اسرار لم تكتب بطون السطور

فكن له عبد تحظى بالمنح والحبور

In them are secrets unwritten, beyond what books can begin

To fathom. So be You His servant, enjoying His gifts and delights

وسلم الأمر تغنم بالرضا والسرور

ولك من الله يوم البعث جنة وحور

Submitting to His will, you gain contentment and cheer

From Allah on Resurrection Day await paradise and pure spouses

وكل من يسخط المقدور يلق الثبور

والهم والغم من باطنه دائم يثور

While those who reject what is ordained shall taste only ruin and woe

The anxious and worried whom bitterness wells up from below

تراه في الحزن والا كدارد دائم يدور

والرب يسخط على الساخط ففق يا نفور

Seem locked in perpetual grief, confusion and sorrow

Yet Allah is displeased with those discontent in their plight

ورأس كل الخطايا والمحن والشرور

حبك الدنيا وربك قد ضمن لك عبور

So cease your rejection and make peace with what is right

The root of all sin and tribulation and evil so rife

وليس لك قط من دنياك إلا المرور

أوشى تقدمه أوشى فات ذالا يبور

Is love of this world, though your Lord has promised you safe passage in the Hereafter

Of your worldly possessions you take only what you require

وما تخلفه فاحذر منه ياذا الحذور

فإنما هذه الدنيا متاع الغرور

That which comes before goes, and what's left may expire

What is behind, beware, may fuel the fires of Hell higher

يا رب وامح الذنوب القاصمات الظهور

وتب علينا بتوبة صدق فيها طهور

For this world is a place of vanity and false desire

O Lord, erase the heavy sins that virtue in me smother

واختم بخير إذا حان السفر للقبور

وصل ربي وسلم بالمسا والبكور

Accept my repentance and cleanse me with absolution

And when my time comes to leave, let me conclude with what's good

على النبي رسول الله بدر البدور

والآل والصحب والاتباع نعم الصدور

And bless my Prophet morning and night, that epitome of virtue

And his Family, Companions and all who his path continue

والحمدلله عد الحوت ذي في البحور

وعد طش السحايب والشجر والبذور

And praise be to Allah, as many as whales swimming in the ocean's breadth

As many as raindrops, trees and seeds
