A star twinkling in the stream of the sun,
I grazed it in the prime of youth’s delight,
Until it showed me the sleepy eye of the star
And the morning’s face veiled by the tail of night.
A night I spent complaining of cares in the beginning,
And by the end I cried for joy and delight,
In a swoon of the dells of sadness close to me
The darkness spread its carpets of plush delight.
To it the torrent of wine comes settled
So whenever it crept in her, she bore fruitful flame
Until when the fire blazed through its log,
The emerald returned from its branches as gold.
I slipped away while dawn’s lips smiled
To the most wondrous view the awakened ever beheld.
With a cheek that would shine like the sun should it
Flash in the night’s sky for the sleepless to behold.
O most abundant of men in springs and solicitude,
And most noble of men in origin and ancestry.
I have tasted abundance from you though
The jealous said it's fancy, perhaps a lie.
For I am certain of riches from you so answer me,
As the sea grants abundance of water to those who drink.
So my good supposition has met my hopes’ extent,
And your good view of me has left me no doubts.
