يا حسرتي بسعيد منذ فارقني

ويا حنيني الى ما فات من أنسه

Oh my regret for Sa'eed since he left me

And my yearning for the past of his company

فلست انسى وكفي تحت منخره

وكان آخر ما أحسست من نفسه

I cannot forget him, my palm under his nose

And the last I sensed of his soul

وقد قضى الناس حقي في جنازته

وكنت آمل ان يقضوه في عرسه

People fulfilled their duty at his funeral

While I had hoped they would fulfill it at his wedding
