يا هر فارقتنا ولم تعد

وكنت منا بمنزل الولدِ

O hawk who has left us and not returned

You were to us like a son

وكيف ننفك عن هواك وقد

كنت لنا عدة من العدد

How can we detach from your love when

You were our equipment among equipment

تمنع عنا الاذى وتحرسنا

بالغيب من حية ومن جود

Protecting us from harm and guarding us

Invisibly from snakes and generosity

وتخرج الفأر من مكامنها

ما بين مفتوحها الى السدد

And bringing out the mouse from its burrows

Between its opening and obstruction

يلقاك في البيت منهم عدد

وانت تلقاهم بلا عدد

You find in the house a number of them

And you meet them without number

لا عدد كان منك منفلتا

منهم ولا واحد من العدد

No number escaped from you

Of them, nor one from the number

لا ترهب الصيف عند هاجرة

ولا تهاب الشتاء في الجمد

You do not fear summer during migration

Nor winter amidst frozenness

وكان يجري ولا سداد لهم

امرك في بيتنا على سدد

And your command used to run in our house properly

Until harming our neighbor was believed

حتى اعتقدت الاذى لجيرتنا

ولم تكن للاذى بمعتقد

And you were not for harm intended

And you protected the house from their injustice

وحمت حول الردى بظلمهم

ومن يحم حول حوضه يرد

And who protects around his basin returns

That time has taken from you and who

ان الزمان استقاد منك ومن

يسلم لغير الزمان يستقد

Surrenders to other than time gets taken

So if misfortune threw a stone at you

فان رماك الردى بحادثة

فما على الحادثات من قود

What revenge is there upon misfortunes

And my heart was trembling over you

وكان قلبي عليك مرتعدا

وانت تنساب غير مرتعد

While you flowed without trembling

You entered the pigeon tower confidently

تدخل برج الحمام متئد

وتخرج الفرخ غير متئد

And exited the chick unconfidently

And you dropped the feathers in the road for them

وتطرح الريش في الطريق لهم

وتبلع اللحم بلع مزدرد

And swallowed the meat swallow of a glutton

Hunger fed you its meat so it saw

اطعمك الغي لحمها فرأى

قتلك اربابها من الرشد

Killing you more proper

They tired you for ages but you did not fall and how

كادوك دهرا فما وقعت وكم

افلت من كيدهم كيد مجتهد

Many plots you escaped using great effort

Until when they deceived you and tried hard

حتى اذا خاتلوك واجتهدوا

وساعد النفس كيد مجتهد

And the soul aided the great effort

They hunted you angrily at you and avenged

صادوك غيظا عليك وانتقموا

منك وزادوا ومن يصد يُصد

From you and increased, and who is blocked gets blocked

So you did not stop ambushing the pigeons

فلم تزل للحمام مرتصدا

حتى سقيت الحمام بالرصد

Until you quenched the pigeons with ambush

Then they healed themselves with iron

ثم شفوا بالحديد انفسهم

منك ولم يربعوا على احد

From you and did not gain over anyone

They did not have mercy on your weak voice as

لم يرحموا صوتك الضعيف كما

لم ترث منها لصوتها الغرد

You did not inherit from it any chirping

It is as if a rope surrounded

فحين كاشفت وانهكت وجا

هرت واسرفت غير مقتصد

Your neck for slaughter it was from closure

It is as if my eyes see you disturbed

اذاقك الموت من اذاق كما

اذقت اطياره يدا بيد

In it, and in you is the foam of churning

And you sought salvation from it but could not

كأنهم يقتلون طاغية

كان لطاغوته من العبُد

Manage a trick and did not find

So you found with the soul, and the stingy with it

فلو أكبوا على القرامط أو

ما لو على زكرويه لم يزد

You were, and who does not find with it finds

You lived greedy led by greed

يامن لذيذ الفراخ اوقعه

ويحك هلا قنعت بالقدد

And died with a killer without fire

So we have not heard of a death like yours when

ما كان اغناك عن تسورك ال

برج ولو كان جنة الخلد

You died nor a life like your tiredness

We lived in prosperity and you were harming us

لا بارك الله في الطعام اذا

كان هلاك النفوس في المعد

And our neighbours died of envy

Then you turned to their chicks

كم اكلة داخلت حشا شرة

فأخرجت روحه من الجسد

And the envious turned miserable

We have taken exclusive mourning while they

اردت ان تأكل الفراخ ولا

يأكلك الدهر أكل مضطهر

After you have the bride - what an exclusion

You were in bounty and in the abundance

هذا بعيد من القياس وما

اعزه في الدنو والبعد

Of the Owner of Majesty, the Eternal

Eating at ease a mouse of our home

ولم تكن لي بمن دهاك يد

تقوى على دفعه بد الابد

While where are the easy thankers

You had scattered their unity for a while

ولا تبين حشو جلدك عن

د الذبح من طاقة ومن جلد

Then they united after the separation

And they crumbled bread in baskets, so how much

كأن حبلا حوى بحوزته

جيدك للذبح كان من مسد

Was crumbled for the kids from liver

They left in our rooms or clothes

كأن عيني تراك مضطربا

فيه وفي فيك رغوة الزبد

Nothing hanging on a peg or thread

And they emptied its bottom and left no

وقد طلبت الخلاص منه فلم

تقدر على حيلة ولم تجد

Thing a hand attached on a pole

And they tore from our clothes new ones

فجدت بالنفس والبخيل بها

كنت ومن لم يجد بها يجد

So we are in new misfortunes

So go from the house best lost

عشت حريصاً يقوده طمع

ومتَّ ذا قاتل بلا قود

And go from the tower worst lost

Did you not fear the jump of time when

فما سمعنا بمثل موتك اذ

مت ولا مثل عيشك النكد

You jumped in the tower jump of a lion

It pitied the house through it yesterday

عشنا بخير وكنت تكلؤنا

ومات جيراننا من الحسد

And before it upon clothes

And it left no one in its yards

ثم تقلبت في فراخهم

وانقلب الحاسدون بالكمد

Between its heights and its base

The consequence of tyranny does not tire though

قد انفردنا بمأتم ولهم

بعدك بالعروس أي منفرد

Delayed periods of periods

Who does not die his day dies his tomorrow

قد كنت في نعمة وفي سعة

من المليك الميهمن الصمد

Or does not die tomorrow then after tomorrow

And praise be to Allah who has no partner

تأكل من فأر بيتنا رغدا

واين بالشاكرين الرغد

Everything appears to eternity

قد كنت بددت شملهم زمنا

فاجتمعوا بعد ذلك البدد

وفتتوا الخبز في السلال فكم

تفتت للعيال من كبد

فلم يبقوا لنا على سبد

في جوف ابياتنا ولا لبد

وفرغوا قعرها وما تركوا

ما علقته يد على وتد

ومزقوا من ثيابنا جددا

فكلنا في مصائب جدد

فاذهب من البيت خير مفتقد

واذهب من البرج شر مفتقد

الم تخف وثبة الزمان وقد

وثبت في البرج وثبة الاسد

اخنى على الدار فيه بالامس

ومن قبلها على لبد

ولم يدع في عراصها احداً

ما بين عليائها الى السند

عاقبة البغي لا تسأم وان

تأخرت مدة من المدد

من لم يمت يومه يمت غده

او لا يمت في غد فبعد غد

والحمد لله لا شريك له

فكل شيء يرى الى امد
