لا ذَعَرتُ السَوامَ في غَلَسِ الصُب
حِ مُغيراً وَلا دَعَوتُ يَزيدا
I did not scatter the idols in the morning fog,
Nor did I call upon Yazid.
يَومَ أُعطي مَخافَةَ المَوتِ ضَيماً
وَالمَنايا يَرصُدنَني أَن أَحيدا
The day I was given a trivial fear of death
And the places of death lie in wait for me to deviate.
