عَلَيكَ مِنَ الأُمورِ بِما يُؤَدّي

إِلى سُنَنِ السَلامَةِ وَالخَلاصِ

Of all courses, hold fast to what leads

to the paths of safety and deliverance,

وَما تَرجو النَجاةَ بِهِ وَشيكاً

وَفَوزاً يَومَ يُؤخَذُ بِالنَواصي

and to that by which you hope for salvation soon,

and triumph on the Day when people are seized by the forelocks.

فَلَيسَ تَنالُ عَفوَ اللَهِ إِلّا

بِتَطهيرِ النُفوسِ مِنَ المَعاصي

For you will not attain God’s pardon except

by cleansing souls of sins,

وَبِرِّ المُؤمِنينَ بِكُلِّ رِفقٍ

وَنُصحٍ لِلأَداني وَالأَقاصي

by kindness to believers, with every gentleness,

and sincere counsel to those near and far.

وَإِن تَشدُد يَداً بِالخَيرِ تُفلِح

وَإِن تَعدِل فَما لَكَ مِن مَناصِ

If you strengthen a hand through goodness, you will prosper;

but if you turn aside, there will be no escape for you.
