1. تَبارَكَ ذو العُلا وَالكِبرِياءِ

    تَفَرَّدَ بِالجَلالِ وَبِالبَقاءِ

    Blessed is He of might and glory

    Alone with majesty and eternity

  2. وَسَوّى المَوتَ بَينَ الخَلقِ طُرّاً

    وَكُلُّهُمُ رَهائِنُ لِلفَناءِ

    He ordained death equally for all

    And all are hostage to mortality

  3. وَدُنيانا وَإِن مِلنا إِلَيها

    وَطالَ بِها المَتاعُ إِلى اِنقِضاءِ

    This world, though we incline to it

    Its pleasures last only to destruction

  4. أَلا إِنَّ الرُكونَ عَلى غُرورٍ

    إِلى دارِ الفَناءِ مِنَ الفَناءِ

    Beware complacency in vanities

    The road to annihilation leads but to annihilation

  5. وَقاطِنُها سَريعُ الظَعنِ عَنها

    وَإِن كانَ الحَريصَ عَلى الثواءِ

    And one who dwells in it soon departs it

    Though the greedy clings to settlement
