1. كُلَّما زيدَ صاحِبُ المالِ مالاً

    زيدَ في هَمِّهِ وَفي الإِشتِغالِ

    The more a man of wealth acquires,

    The more his worries and work multiplies.

  2. قَد عَرَفناكِ يا مُنَغّصَةَ العَي

    شِ وَيا دارَ كُلِّ فانٍ وَبالي

    We know you, O troubler of lives

    O abode of every transient being.

  3. لَيسَ يَصفو لِزاهِدٍ طَلَبُ الزُه

    دِ إِذا كانَ مُثقَلاً بِالعِيالِ

    The ascetic's pursuit is not serene

    If burdened by dependents unseen.
