من حس لي الأخوين كال
غصنين أو من راهما
Who made me feel the two brothers were as
Two branches, or who saw them
قرمان لا يتظالما
ن ولا يرام حماهما
Two spears that do not oppress one another
And do not covet protecting each other?
ويلي على أبوي وال
قبر الذي واراهما
Woe unto me for two fathers whom
The grave covered over!
لا مثل كهلي في الكهو
ل ولا فتىً كفتاهما
There are no elders in dwellings like my two elders,
Nor any youths like their youths.
أسدان لا يتذللا
ن ولا يرام حماهما
Two lions who do not submit
And do not covet protecting each other.
رمحين خطيين في
كبد السماء تراهما
Two straight lances in
The liver of the sky - you see them.
ما خلفا إذ ودعا
في سدودٍ شرواهما
They left nothing behind when they bid farewell
In places they frequented.
سادا بغير تكلفٍ
عفواً يفيض نداهما
They ruled without affectation,
Bounty overflowing from their munificence.
سيفين هنديين
سن القبر حد ظباهما
Two Indian swords -
The tomb is the edge honing them.
ابني ربيعة لا يمل الن
اس من ذكراهما
Sons of Rabī‘ah, the people do not tire of
Mentioning them.
