إن بني معرقٌ كريم

محببٌ في أهله حليم

The sons of Ma'ruq are generous,

Beloved among their people, forbearing.

ليس بفحاش ولا لئيم

ولا بطخرور ولا سؤوم

صخر بني فهرٍ به زعيم

لا يخلف الظن ولا يخيم
