Youth and beauty are in your hands

What crown is dearer than your crown?

Love has erected its throne, so we asked

Who is she, for it pointed at you

So pour out your affectionate soul upon it

Like the pouring of the sky into your eyes

    Whenever youth competes in beauty

The genius of splendor nurtures it to you

The jesters do not sing except to cast

The sighs of passion into your ears

    The garden swooned drunkenly

By the stream of fragrance from your breasts

The rose killed itself out of envy of you

And threw its blood on your cheeks

    And the butterflies, when

The breezes told them about your lips

What are perfume and silk? Except

The honor of a thing is to be yours

They raised you as an example of beauty

And bowed submissively at your feet
