حتى متى هذي الوغى الفاجعه

مستلة أسيافها القاطعه

For how long will this terrible chaos last,

Brandishing its cutting swords?

حتى مَ لا تنفكُّ نيرانها

مشبوبة أَلسنَها دالعه

For how long will its fires not cease,

Its tongues flaming and blazing?

هذي ثلث من سنيها مضت

ونحن في حجتها الرابعه

Three years of its age have passed,

Yet we remain in its fourth plea,

ولم تزل المانيا تحسبُ ال

دنيا بمن فيها لها تابعه

And Germany still plans to

Make the world subservient.

كأنها في الارض صارت هي ال

آمرة الناهية الوازعه

It acts as though it owns

The earth, commanding and forbidding.

كأنها بالدم مفتونة

فهي الى إهراقه نازعه

It seems obsessed with blood,

Inclined towards shedding it.

تحلُّه ليست بهيابةٍ

مغبَّةً فيه ولا جازعه

Without any shyness or remorse,

Lost in it, unaffected.

وزادها الطاغي طموحاً الى

بنفسها جائدة نازعه

And the tyrant's ambition grew

To conquer using its own forces.

وعندما حانت لها ضربة

تخالها القاضية القاطعه

And when the decisive blow came

Which it thought would subjugate,

جرت عليها جيشها يعضد ال

نمسا وشنَّت غارةً رائعه

It brought its army to support

Austria and launched a great raid.

كرّت لسفك الدم ظمأى ولل

إثخان في أعدائها جائعه

Thirsty to shed blood and starve

Its enemies.

كرت وسامت جيش ايطاليا ال

ثانيَ ضرباً ناره لاذعه

It attacked, forcing the Italian

Army to retreat from its positions,

فاضطرَّ ان يرتدَّ عن موقعٍ

ضاقت عليه أرضه الواسعه

Despite its vast lands.

The rest of the armies were also forced

وأُكرِهت باقي الجيوش على ال

نكوص معه فانثنت راجعه

To retreat with it.

It left Austria, which it had pounded,

وغادرت ما دوَّخته من ال

نمسا لمر القهقري جارعه

Bitterly routed.

Panic took over its groups

واستحوذ الذعر على جمعها

فاضطربت أفرادهُ هالعه

Leaving them disturbed and terrified.

Its opponents attacked its retreating

وشد غازوها الهجوم على

ساقاتها الذائدة الدافعه

Columns.

It could not resist their onslaught

فلم يسعها صدُّ تيارهم

فأدبرت ناكصة هارعه

So it fled hastily.

And it lowered the victory flags

ونكست أعلام نصرٍ على

أعدائها كانت لها رافعه

It had raised against its enemies.

It was routed by a people

واصبحت مصفوعةً من لدن

قوم لهم كانت هي الصافعه

It used to rout.

What a calamity that befell

فيا لها من نكبة كالقضا أن

قضت على ايطاليا واقعه

And afflicted Italy!

Its foundations shook

من هولها اهتزت اساساتها

وكاد يعيي خطبها راقعه

And its regime almost collapsed.

It nearly succumbed

واوشكت أن تتفشَّى بها

سمومُ فوضى روسيا الناقعه

To Russia's raging chaos

Were it not for the steadfastness

لولا ثباتٌ شدَّ بنيانها

من كل شهم حازم باقعه

Of its wise and firm leaders.

And the timely aid of its allies

ونجدة فارجة كربها

جادت بها احلافها سارعه

Who rushed to help it.

Its two allies bolstered it

حليفتاها شدَّتا ازرها

بقوة زاجرة رادعه

With strong, deterring support.

Both extended a hand,

كلتاهما مدت اليها يداً

راغت على اعدائها ماصعه

HOSTILE to its enemies.

One, the French army, stepped up

جيشان جيش من فرنسا انبرى

بعزمة قلب الصفا صادعه

With a determination that dazzles foes.

The other, Great Britain's mighty forces,

وتراً وجيش من بريطانيا ال

عظمى جرى في اثره شافعه

Came next to back it up.

Both were a shield, protecting Italy,

كلاهما كانا لايطاليا

دريئة عاصمة مانعه

Foiling Germany's schemes against it.

Thus relief came from its treatied

فيها توقَّت كيد المانيا

لها وردت شرها قامعه

Allies, beneficial and helpful.

وهكذا طلت لمن عاهدت

حليفةً مفيدة نافعه
