إِنَّ اِبنَ عَفّانَ الَّذي جَرَبتُمُ
فَطَمَ اللُصوصَ بِمُحكَمِ الفُرقانِ
Indeed, Ibn Affan—the man you have put to the test—
has weaned the thieves by the Qur’an’s decisive judgment.
ما زالَ يَعمَلُ بِالكِتابِ مُهَيمِناً
في كُلِّعنق مِنهُمُ وَبَنانِ
He has never ceased to act according to the Book, holding sway
over every neck and fingertip of theirs.
