1. جَلَبنا الخَيلَ مِن بَلَدٍ بِبابٍ

    إِلى الآطامِ وَالبَلَدِ الرَواء

    We brought the horses from a distant land

    To Atham and the verdant country

  2. تَرَكنَ لَهُم بِكاظِمَةِ المَنايا

    أَحاديثٌ يَذوبُ لَها الرَحاءُ

    They left them in Kadhimah, home of fate

    Conversations melting with hope

  3. فَلَم أَرَ مِثلَ يَومِ السَيفِ حَتّى

    رَأَيتُ الثَني تَخضِبُهُ الدِماءُ

    I never saw the like of the day of swords

    Until I saw the bent blades dripping blood

  4. وَأَلوَت خَيلُنا لَمّا التَقَينا

    بِفارِقَ وَالأُمورُ لَها اِنتِهاءُ

    And our horses howled when we met

    At Farigh, where all things end
