1. إِن يَكُ ذا الدَهرُ قَد أَضَرَّ بِنا

    مِن غَيرِ ذَحلٍ فَرُبَّما نَفَعا

    Though time may have harmed us without return,

    Good fortune may yet come to us in turn.

  2. أَبكي عَلى ذَلِكَ الزَمانِ وَلا

    أَحسبُ شَيئاً قَد فاتَ مُرتَجَعا

    I weep for days gone by beyond recall,

    Though naught, once lost, can ever more befall.

  3. إِذ نَحنُ في ظِلِّ نِعمَةٍ سَلَفَت

    كانَت لَها كُلُّ نِعمَةٍ تَبَعا

    While we enjoy blessings past days have lent,

    Each present blessing shall more blessings send.
