Abda, daughter of Marthad, came to me by night,
at a quiet hour, while my companions were at Dhat al-Hawafir.
She pressed through al-Ruhbayn, driven by his urgings;
how astonishing was her daring journey!
She crossed al-Iklil, then turned aside,
seeking al-Masani or the waters of al-Akadir.
By the life of your good father, my familiar dwelling was never
the homes at al-Mishat, by the bank of Jazir.
Rather, the slope of Kundar was a familiar place to me,
and the side of Lata—that is the land of the emigrants.
