إِنّي مِنَ القَومِ الَّذينَ إِذا

أَزِمَ الشِتاءُ وَدوخِلَت حُجَرُه

I am of those people who when

winter becomes severe and its cold intense,

وَدَنا وَدونِيَتِ البُيوتُ لَهُ

وَثَنى فَثَنّى رَبيعَهُ قَدَرُه

and homes draw near to it

and spring has folded its flowers as was fated,

وَضَعَ المَنيحَ وَكانَ حَظَّهُمُ

في المُنقِياتِ يُقيمُها يُسُرُه

puts down the camel-litter and their share

of mounts are slender-bodied mares
