1. One day Mansha said to Sa‘dana,

And she was a temptress with bewitching eyes,

  2. After he had coated his cheek-beard with

Perfume, and scented his teeth with musk,

  3. And sipped some aged wine

Passing among the wine jars in the tavern.

  4. A gazelle-fawn had already kissed her with his mouth,

And she was still sated with kisses.

  5. “Would you agree to a kiss? Here, take

Fifty red gold coins”—and he untied his money belt.

  6. She said to him, “Give it here; have at me, then strike

Me with a turd—and hurry, now!”

  7. So he kissed her, then said, “There remains

Another.” She replied, making much of him:

  8. “What is it? Tell me.” “Did I not kiss an anus

Whose guts and bowels I fondled?

  9. Did I not offer a mouth I jealously guard

To a privy whose [vermin] have run wild?”

  10. “You thousandfold pimp, you son of a whore!

Yes—and husband to a thousand bawds!

  11. You were not content that I kissed a backside

Beneath moustaches that looked like pubic hair,

  12. Until you went to extremes of contempt, and likened

My tongue to a ‘daughter of Wardan’—a cockroach!”
