وَفَيتُ بِذِمَّةِ القَيسي لَمّا

تَواكَلَها الصَحابَةُ وَالجِوارُ

And I fulfilled the pledge of al-Qaysi when

His companions and neighbors entrusted him

كَما أَوفَيتُ بِالعُكلي ضَرباً

بِنَصلِ السَيفِ إِذ عَلَنَ السِرارُ

Just as I fulfilled the pledge of Ukayli with a blow

Of the sword when secrets were revealed
