أُريدُ لأنسى ذِكرها فَكأَنَّما

تمثَّلُ لي لَيلى بِكُلِّ سَبيلِ

I want to forget her, yet it's as though

Layla appears to me in every way

وَقُل أُمُّ عَمروٍ داؤُهُ وَشِفاؤُه

لَدَيها وَرَيّاها الشِّفاءُ مِن الخَبلِ

And say to Umm Amr, his ailment and cure

Are with her, and seeing her cured him of madness
