1. ذرونيَ أَبكي بعد جيرة ثهمد

    واحداث عهد في بقية معهدي

    Let me cry after an extinguished neighbor

    And covenants of a period in the rest of my life

  2. وَأَندب آثار الفَريق بلوعة

    وَلا عج وجد بعدهم متجدد

    And lament the traces of separation with agony

    And find no comfort after them renewed

  3. وَمالي لا أَبكي وَقَد عَزَموا النوى

    غداة اِفتَرقنا من مغير وَمنجد

    And why should I not cry when they decided the intent

    The morning we parted from Mughayr and Manjad

  4. فَما ودعوني يوم جد رَحيلهم

    وَلا زوّدوني نظرة المتزود

    They did not bid me farewell the day they left

    Nor provided me a look of the well-provisioned

  5. وَلا رحموا قلبا يَحوم عَلى الحمى

    وَلا حفظوا ميثاق عهد مؤكد

    Nor had mercy on a heart hovering over ardour

    Nor kept the covenant of a confirmed pact

  6. فَليت الهَوى العذرى أَعقب راحة

    لمطلق دمع عَن غَرام مقيد

    If only pure love had brought comfort

    To the tear of unconfined passion

  7. وَلَيت زمان الوصل ارخى عنانه

    فتبلغني الآمال غاية مقصدي

    And if only the time of union had slackened its reins

    My hopes would reach the goal of my purpose

  8. خليليّ من حي ابن خولان أَسعدا

    رَفيقكما فالدهر لَيسَ بمسعد

    My friends from the quarter of Ibn Khuwailid, most fortunate

    You two, your company in life is not fortunate

  9. وَلا تسألاني عَن فؤاد مضيع

    فان فؤادي في الطراف الممدد

    Do not ask me of a lost heart

    My heart is in the widespread expanses

  10. وَيا ممرضي بالغور غور تهامة

    أعد مرضي فيهم وعدلي بعوّدي

    And oh nurse in the caves, caves of Tihama

    Prepare my malady in them and straighten my distortion

  11. وَخلّ عيون العين تسترق النهى

    وَتَرمي العميد الصب في كل معمد

    And let the eyes of the eye steal the forbidden

    And shoot the pillar of patience in every baptistery

  12. فَقَد لاحَ لي تحت السَتائر طلعة

    أَذابَت بنور الحسن قَلبي وأكبدي

    For the vision has appeared to me under the curtains

    Melting with the light of beauty my heart and liver

  13. إِذا نزل العشاق في عرصاتها

    رأوا عبجبا من نورها المتصعد

    When lovers descend in its plains

    They see wonders from its ascending light

  14. فَكَم حولها من هائمين بحبها

    وَبين يديها من ركوع وَسجد

    Around it are so many crazed with love

    And before it are prostrations and bows

  15. رَعى اللَه أَياما مضت بسويقة

    ولذة عيش بالاباطح مرغد

    May God revive the days that passed in Suwaiqah

    And the bliss of living in soft sands

  16. يَقولون كَم تحكي وَكَم تذكر الحمى

    وَتستنشد الاشعار من كل منشد

    They say how much you recount and remember ardour

    And recite poems from every poet

  17. فقلت لهم خلوا سَبيلي فأنني

    أَروح عَلى حكم الغَرام واِغتدي

    I said to them, leave me be, for I

    Roam with the judgement of passion and exceed

  18. وَما شاقني برق بأبرق رامة

    وَلا نَغمات من حمام مغرد

    Neither lightning of Abraq Rama enticed me

    Nor melodies from a warbling pigeon

  19. وَلا نَسمات الريحتنثر لؤلؤا

    من الطل عن زهر كدرّ منضد

    Nor the breeze scattering pearls

    From the dew over a narcissus flower

  20. بلى شاقَني الوجه السَعيد الَّذي به

    تشعشع نور الحق في كل مشهد

    Rather, the joyous face by which

    The light of truth shone in every scene enticed me

  21. أَعاد عَلَينا اللَه من بَرَكاته

    وأوردنا من بره خير مورد

    May God return to us of His blessings

    And make us drink from His goodness the best drink

  22. فَذلك يَستَسقي الغمام بوجهه

    وَيفتح في أَسراره كل مؤصد

    For with his face he entices the clouds

    And opens in his mysteries every latch

  23. اذا ما رأت عيناك بهجة وَجهه

    رأت بدرتم في مَنازل أَسعَد

    If your eyes see the delight of his face

    They see your full moons in the most fortunate abodes

  24. وان لثمت يمناك يمناه فالتزم

    بركن سوى ركن من البيت أَسود

    And if your right hand kisses his right hand then adhere

    To a pillar other than the black pillar of the house

  25. له سيرة مرضية وَسَريرة

    تضيء بنور السنة المتوقد

    He has an agreeable way and inner state

    Lit with the light of the kindled Sunnah

  26. امام به الدنيا تجلى ظلامها

    وَلاحَ سَبيل الرشد عَن خير مرشد

    With him the world shone out its darkness

    And the path of righteousness from the best guide appeared

  27. سما بشعار الصالحين وَهديهم

    وأحيا منار الدين بعد محمد

    He rose with the emblems of the righteous and their guidance

    And revived the minaret of religion after Muhammad

  28. اذا ما ذكرنا الاكرمين فانه

    هو الكوثر الفياض وَالعارض الندي

    When we mention the most generous

    He is the pouring spring and the high sand dune

  29. وَمَهما اِمتدحنا الصالحين فمدحه

    به تختم الذكر الجَميل وَتَبتَدي

    And however much we praise the righteous, his praise

    With it good mention concludes and begins

  30. فَللَه من غوث لكل مؤمل

    وَسيف عَلى الاعداء لَيسَ بمغمد

    For God, what succor for every hopeful

    And sword over the enemies never sheathed

  31. وَمعقل عز يلتجأ بجنابه

    وَيَروي بجر من عَطاياه مزبد

    And fortress of honor taking refuge in his side

    And drinking from his gifts the sparkling cup

  32. فَيا سَيدي ان الزَمان معاندي

    وَأَنتَنور لنا بك الناس تَهتَدي

    So my master, time is hostile to me

    While you are the light people take guidance from

  33. وَظلك مَمدود عَلى كل مسلم

    وَفضلك مَبذول لِكل موحد

    Your shade stretches over every Muslim

    Your grace scattered to every monotheist

  34. وَلكنَّني أَشكو اليك نوائبا

    يعزلها صَبري وَيفني تجلدي

    But I complain to you of afflictions

    My patience foils them and my composure ends them

  35. فَلا قر قَلبي بل وَلا كف مدمعي

    وَلا لذلي عيشي وَشربي وَمَرقَدي

    Neither does my heart settle, nor my tears cease

    Nor the joy of my living, drinking, and resting place

  36. وَفي بيت رغم اخوَتي واحبتي

    مقيمون في ليل من الهم سرمد

    While in a house, despite my brothers and loved ones

    Dwelling in a night of perpetual worries

  37. وان الفقيه المعجلي ضاق ذرعه

    لعتبك يا مصباح غور وانجد

    And the jurist Al-Mu'ajjali's patience has run out

    For your rebuke, oh lamp of Ghawr and Unayzah

  38. أَتاهم كَلام منك يا با محمد

    يهد الرواسي فاِقتصد وَتروّد

    Words from you came to them, O Abu Muhammad

    Toppling the foundations, so be just and composed

  39. فان كان عَن ذنب فَعَفوك واسع

    وان لَم يكن ذنب فَلا ترض حسدي

    If it was for a sin, your forgiveness is vast

    And if there was no sin, then do not accept my envy

  40. وَحاشاك تحمي الارض شرقا وَمغربا

    وَتهمل اخواني وَتظلم مسجدي

    And You are above protecting the East and West of earth

    While neglecting my brothers and wronging my mosque

  41. فأسبل عليهم ستر صفحك واحمهم

    بجاهك يا مَولاي من كل معتدي

    So drape over them your forgiveness' veil and protect them

    By your status my Master from every aggressor

  42. وَقم بي فاني وابن عمي وكل من

    يلينا نرجى جاه وَجهك سيدي

    And stand by me, for I and my cousin and all those

    After us hope for the status of your face, my Master

  43. وَهاكَ من الدر النَضيد غرائبا

    مؤلفها عَبد الرَحيم بن أَحمد

  44. وَلَم أَبغ منكم غير صالح دعوة

    يَطول بها باعي وَتَعلو بها يدي

    I do not seek from you but righteous prayer

    That lengthens my lifespan and raises my hand

  45. وَبعد صلاة اللَه ثم سلامه

    عَلى خير فرع طال من خير محتد

    And after the prayer of God and then His peace

    Upon the best branch from the best rooted tree

    حماة ثغور الدين من كل ملحد

    Muhammad, the highest pride and his progeny

    Protectors of the religion's borders from every atheist
