ضحكتْ بروقُ الإبرقينِ تبسما

وسمتْ نجومُ الحقِّ في كبدِ السما

The lightnings of the clouds smiled with delight,

And the stars of truth rose in the liver of the sky.

وَسَقى الغمام ربا الحجاز مسحرا

وَمصبحا وَمفجرا وَمعتما

The clouds watered the sanctuaries of Hejaz at dawn,

At daybreak and at the first light of dawn, whether bright or gloomy.

وَبَكى الحمام عَلى الربا مترنما

فأجبت ذاك الساجع المترنما

The doves wept over the sanctuaries cooing,

So I responded to that lamenting cooer.

وَمَكثت في النيابَتين متيما

وَلَقَد رَضيت بأن أَعيش متيما

And I remained infatuated with the two holy precincts,

And indeed I was content to live infatuated.

يا ساجِعات الورق في عذب الحمى

ما كل ذي شجن يحن إِلى الحمى

O doves of leaves in the soft heat!

Not everyone who grieves yearns for the heat.

أَعلىّ لوم ان جَرى دَمعي دما

أوذبت من وَلهى إِلى البيض الدمى

Is it the highest blame if my tears flowed as blood?

Or if she who captivated me longed for the red camels?

صد الحَبيب عَن الزيارة بعدَما

قد كنت أَرجو أَن يرق وَيرحما

The beloved barred me from visiting after

I hoped he would show tenderness and mercy.

يا صاح لا تَرضَ الاقامة متجدا

ان كنت فارقت الفَريق المنهما

O companion! Do not be content with long separation

If you have left the caravan of the reproached beloved.

أرخل من النيابَتين قَلائصا

في الدونا فرة تَبارى الاسهما

Dismount in the two holy precincts white camels,

Among the sand dunes, competing with the arrows.

فاذا دَنَت أَعلام مكة منك أَو

ميقاتها أَحرمت فيمن أَحرما

And when the flags of Mecca come near you, or

Its sacred boundaries, sanctify yourself among those who sanctify.

وَطف القدوم هناك واسع مهرولا

في المروتين وَلب وادع معظما

And hasten to arrive there, traveling widely,

Among the hills of Marwah and Wadi Muzdalifah.

واقض الَّذي فرض الاله عليك من

تفث وعد نحو الحجاز ميمما

And fulfill what God has enjoined upon you,

Heading firmly towards the Hejaz, with purpose.

فاذا بلغت الى رياض محمد

فانزل هناك مصليا وَمسلما

And when you arrive at the meadows of Muhammad,

Descend there praying and submitting.

تلق البَشير المنذر المزمل

المدثر المتأخر المتقدما

Meet the bearer of good news and the warner

The enshrouded, the postponed, the preceded.

كانَت نبوّته وآدم صورة

في الماء وَالطين المصوّر منهما

His prophecy existed when Adam was

A figure of water and clay being shaped.

وَبه وجود الكون من عدم فقد

ملأ الزَمان تفضلا وَتكرما

And through him the existence of the universe came from nonexistence,

He filled time with kindness and generosity.

قمر تعلقت النفوس بحبه

فكأَنَّه في كل قلب خيما

A moon that souls were attracted with love to him,

As if he dwelt in every heart that harbored.

فَمَتى أَجوز إِلى البَقيع وَظبية

وأَحوز ملء العين من نور بهما

When will I pass by Baqie and Thabir

And gain my eyes' fill of light because of them?

وَأَقوم في حرم النبوّة منشدا

مدحا كازهار الرَبيع منظما

And stand in the inviolable precinct of prophecy, reciting

Praise like the arranged flowers of spring.

لِلعاقِب الماحي الَّذي ملا الوَرى

كَرما وَمرحمة وعم وأَنعما

For the final one who erased polytheism, who filled the world

With generosity, kindness, favor and grace.

وابن العَواتِق خير من وطىء الثرى

وأجل من ركب المطي وأَكرما

The son of virtuous women, better than all who walked the earth,

And nobler than all who mounted steeds, most generous.

فالوَجد أَوجدني اليك صَبابة

وَحشا الحشا شوقا يشق الاعظما

Passion inspired me to come to you,

A blazing passion that splits even the sturdiest.

يسري حجازي النَسيم بنشره

فأبيت ملتهب الحَشاشة مغرما

The Najdi breeze spreads it with its blowing,

So I spend the nights inflamed, infatuated.

أَصل الصَلاة إِلى الصَلاة عَلى الَّذي

صَلى عليه ذو الجَلال وَسلما

I ask that prayers be sent to the prayers upon the one

Upon whom the Lord of Majesty and Peace prayed.

مَن لي بأن أَصل المَدينة زائِرا

وأقبل الترب الكَريم والثما

Who will allow me to come to Medina as a visitor,

And approach its noble earth and price?

جادَت عَلى حرم النَبي محمد

وَطفاء تنشرد معها المتسجما

The clouds rained generosity upon the precinct of the Prophet Muhammad

Walking around it, chanting together sublimely.

وَسرى إِلى أَكناف طيبة عارض

غدقا اذا ضحكت بوارقه همى

And it flowed to the bosoms of fragrant Taybah,

Showing a smile, when its lightnings give joy.

بلد به المَلأ الَّذين تبووا

رتب العلى بالسمر وَالبيض الظما

The abode whose leaders repented

And attained high ranks through vigilance and abstinence.

وَتفيؤا ظل العجاج وأَعملوا

أَسيافهم لمصارع الصيد الكما

And sought shelter in the shade of Al-Ajaj, and wielded

Their swords in the battles of formidable prey.

بمبارك الوجه الَّذي نفحاته

في المحل تحكى الزاخر المتلطما

With the blessed face whose exhalations

In this abode tell of the Abundant, the Turbulent sea.

فرد الكَرامة بالشَفاعة وَاللوا

وَالكَوثر المروى العباد من الظما

He brought nobility with intercession and small pools,

And Al-Kawthar the flowing spring from which servants drink.

وَمظفر العزمات يصدع عزمه

صم الجبال وَيستحط الانجما

And the victorious in resolve, whose resolve splits

Mountains, and brings down stars.

ملأ الثغور صواهلا وَقبائلا

كالاسد تَستَبقي العجاج الادهما

He filled the frontiers with its weapons and tribes,

Like lions, outstripping the fleet, red camels.

وَسَقى ديار الشرك غيم عَواسِل

وَمناصل يرفض عارضها دنا

And he quenched the abodes of polytheism with clouds of warriors,

And swords that reject every opponent.

ذاكَ المظلل بالغَمامة وَالَّذي

سجد البعير له وحن وأرزما

That one shaded with clouds, to whom

The camel prostrated, cooing and writhing.

وَالظَبي حَياه بأحسن منطق

وَالعضو خاطبه وكان مسمما

And the gazelle greeted him with better speech than man’s,

And the tree trunk spoke to him though it was inanimate.

وَبخمسة الاقراص أَشبع جيشه

وَسَقى خَميسا من يديه عرمرما

And the full moon split for his blessings,

And truth testifies before I even speak.

وَرَمى هوازن في حنين بقبضة

من تربة الوادي فولوا اذرمى

May God send prayers upon him as long as

The morning breeze blows or thunder rumbles in the darkness.

وَدَعا بأَشجار الفلاة فأَقبلت

عنقا تسير تأخرا وَتقدما

And upon Abu Bakr, for he surpassed mankind

In merit and believing him - how excellent a Muslim!

وَهُوَ الَّذي نطق الحصا في كفه

وَالجذع حن تذكرا وَتندما

He supported the Messenger with himself and his money -

Blessed is that, how righteous and merciful!

وانشق بدر التمّ من بَركاته

وَالحق يشهد قبل أَن أَتَكَلما

And upon the young man Umar whose jihad

In God settled affairs with his sword, perplexing them.

صَلى عليه اللَه ما هب الصبا

أَوحن رعد في الدجى وَتزرجما

He opened conquests and his openings erased

The markings of misguidance, demolishing and levelling.

وَعلى أَبي بكر فقد سبق الوَرى

فضلا وَتصديقا له مد أَسلَما

And upon the martyr of the house, Uthman, whose

Light made even the angels of the sky embarrassed.

عضد الرَسول بنفسه وَبماله

طوبى لذلك ما أَبر وأَرحما

The one upon whom was revealed "He is mindful

Of God", the one who compiled the decisive Scripture.

وَعلى الفَتى عمر الَّذي بجهاده

في اللَه حل بسيفه ما استبهما

And upon the father of al-Husayn, Haydar, who

Remained amidst war's confusion, intrepid and unyielding.

فتح الفتوح وغادرت فتحاته

رسم الضَلالَة دارسا متهدما

Hopes flock to him in times of adversity,

And enemies taste him as lethal poison.

وَعلى شهيد الدار عثمان الَّذي

من نوره استَحيت ملائكة السما

And upon al-Husayn and his brother Hasan, for they

Were named by their mother and father the Sublime.

من انزلت فيه أمن هو قانت

ذاك الَّذي جمع الكتاب المحكما

And the honorable companions, for they are

Meteors when the night of tribulations grows dark.

وَعلى أَبي السطين حيدرة الَّذي

ما زالَ في الحَرب الهزبر الضيغما

Laughing when faces frown,

Marching forth when the valiant hold back.

تَرتاده الآمال رمضة ممل

وَتذوقه الاعداء سما علقما

Clouds of guidance, all of them,

Each meeting the enemy as snarling, branded lions.

وَعلى الحسين وَصنوه حسن فقد

سميا بأمهما علا وابيهما

The wild beasts gained sustenance from the harvest of their swords,

Satiated and well-watered, whether it was flesh or blood.

والآل وَالصحب الكِرام فانهم

شهب اذا ليل الحَوادِث اظلما

They made their valuables and souls forbidden

To all but God, so that the religion became strong.

الضاحكِون اذا الوجوه عَوابِس

وَالمقدمون اذا المقدم احجما

God reward them - what excellent youths!

None preceded them in that, or came first.

سحب النَدى شهب الهداية كلهم

يَلقى العدا اسدار اسود أرقما

The blessings of Ahmad enveloped them,

Who surpassed mankind in eloquence, Arabs and non-Arabs.

للوحش رزق من حصاد سيوفهم

شبعا وَريا كان لحما اودما

A moon that travelled through the seven heavens and spoke

To his Lord nightly, returning glorified and magnified.

جَعَلوا نَفائسهم وانفسهم حمى

للدين حَتّى كانَ دينا قيما

And the honored messengers preceded him in merit

For his favor upon them - he prospered with prayers and sanctity.

لِلَّه در اولئكم من فتية

ما كانَ اولاهم بذاك واقدما

May God send prayers upon him - how many angels travelled

Ascending through the heavens for him! And how sublime!

شملتهم بركات احمد الَّذي

ساد الانام فصيحها والاعجما

O master of men and jinn, O our patron

On the Day of Assembly, O guide of servants from blindness!

قمر سما سبعا وكلم ربه

ليلا وَعاد مبجلا وَمُعَظما

If you stand, O son of the most virtuous, interceding

For the sinful, compassionate and merciful,

وَتقدم الرسل الكِرام لفضله

فيهم وَكبر بالصَلاة واحرما

Then bestow upon Abdullah al-Rahim mercy

For he has transgressed, done wrong, and committed sins.

صَلى عليهاللَه كَم ملك سَرى

فيه صعودا في السَماء وَكَم سما

And was unfaithful to you when he visited friends, and did not visit

What he was capable of - no commanded affair is irreversible.

يا سيد الثقلين يامأ مولنا

في الحشر يا هادي العباد من العمى

But when he saw his stumbles,

Your wish to draw him near became greater to him.

ان قمت يا ابن الاطيبين مشفعا

بالمذنبين وَمشفقا مترحما

So be kind to him, show tenderness toward him, and be

A fortress for him from fearsome sorrows and trials.

فاعطف عَلى عَبد الرَحيم برحمة

فَلَقَد طغى وَبَغى وَجاروا جرما

And intercede with the Creator for him and his companions,

For the Subduer of the unjust has become hellfire.

وَجفاك اذ زار الرِفاق وَلَم يزر

ما يَستَطيع يرد امرا مبرما

And reward him in both abodes with what will protect him

For he is under your protection and you do not cease to protect your sanctuaries.

لكنه لما رأى زلاته

عظمت عليه راى نوالك اعظما

And reward him, my Master, with every generosity

You wish, and increase him in favors and grace.

فالطف به واعطف عليه وكن له

حصنا من الخطب النظيم وَملزما

And upon you, may God send prayers forever, as long as

The lightnings of the clouds smile with delight.

واشفع الى الباري له وَلسربه

اذ صار سبحن الظالمين جهنما

وأجره في الدارين مِمّا يتقي

هو في حماك وَلَم تزل حامى الحمى

واجره يا مَولاي كل كَرامة

ترحى وزده عَلى المَكارِم أَنعما

وَعَليك صَلى اللَه طول الدهر ما
