1. حياك يا ربع لَيلى كل هطال

    يسقى بقية أَظلال وأَطلال

    Greetings, O companion of Layla, every downpour

    Waters the remaining shadows and ruins

  2. وَباتَ رعد سواريه يحن إِلى

    تجديد عهد بذاك المعهد البالي

    And the roar of thunder yearns

    To renew the covenant with that dilapidated shrine

  3. سَقى الخَمائل من وادي الشام إِلى

    سفح الخزام فشعبالشيح وَالضال

    It quenched the thirst of meadows from Wadi ash-Sham to

    The slopes of al-Khazam, Shu'ayb, and Ad-Dall

  4. مَلاعب اللهو لادَهري القَديم بها

    دَهري القَديم وَلا حالي بها حالي

    The playgrounds of pastime, neither my old nor

    My present relate to it anymore

  5. ذهبن أَيام أَهليها كَما ذهبت

    نَسائم الريح بين المهمه الخالي

    Its days with its dwellers have passed, as the

    Breezes passed through the vacant valley

  6. مَن لي برد نَعيم لا لحاق به

    وَحيرة عَن يمن الحي حَلال

    Who can bring me back the bliss of youth that is

    Unattainable, and free me from the confusion of longing for the days of passion, homelessness, illness, while my eyes were busy away from other concerns

  7. يَوم الغَرام غَريمي وَالحمى وَطَني

    وأعين العين شغلي دون أشغالي

    Revelry was my religion, and the abode of madness was

    My home, and in passion were my uncles and cousins

  8. وَاللهو ديني وَدار الظاعنين الى

    دارى وَفي الحمى أَعمامي وَأَخوالي

    Alas! Those days have passed, the best of them

    In Al-Ghur, with no detailed description or summary

  9. هَيهات ذاكَ زَمان فات أَطيبه

    بالغور من غيرة تَفصيل واجمال

    When I remember my days there and

    My eyes overflow with tears shedding copious drops

  10. اذا تذكرت أَيامي به وَكفت

    عيني بعبرة ناكي العين مثكال

    Love is only for those who know it

    They feel no blame or rebuke

  11. ما الحب الا لقوم يَعرفون به

    لا يشعرون بلوام وَعذال

    And the solace of the morning is to let the pupils quench their

    Ceaseless tears with tears

  12. وَراحة الصب أَن يَروى الصَبابة عَن

    دمع يَسيل لدمع غير سيّال

    So my heart has no right to let its passions

    Yearn after an unattainable beloved

  13. فَما عَلى القَلب أَن تَهفو نَوازعه

    الى حَبيب بدين الحب مطال

    Praise God for the nights that did not sever

    My beautiful patience, nor make me lose my mind

  14. لِلَّه در اللَيالي ما فصمن عرا

    صَبري الجَميل وَلا همت باذ بالي

    Honor is an impregnable citadel, inhabited only by

    The guest of passionate love and cubs

  15. وَالعز طود منيع لا يحل به

    الا نزيل حمى أسد واشبال

    Struggling is the mark of the righteous, so they are

    The people of guidance, dew, and supreme pride

  16. المكد شبين سر الصالحين فهم

    اهل الهُدى وَالندى وَالمفخر العالي

    The clouds of generosity are the signs of existence, so they are

    My lofty arrows and fortunate omens

  17. غَمائم الجود أَعلام الوجود فهم

    سَهمي المعلى وَفألي اسعد الفال

    Accompanying them in the gardens of virtue, delighted

    And their neighbor in blissful comfort

  18. لزيمهم في رياض الخير مغتبط

    وَجارهم في نَعيم ناعم البال

    O passerby from the two sanctuaries, heading

    To the protected place with folded wings

  19. يا رائِحا من ربا النيابَتين عَلى

    وَجنا مجفرة الجنبين شمالال

    Leave it humming in the settlements of Al-Ghanimiyyah, in

    A flowery garden of generosity and grace

  20. دَعها تنخ في ديار الغانمية في

    روض أريض لدى جود وافضال

    In the countryside of the compassionate pole of the world of knowledge

    Where proverbs abound

  21. في ريف رأفة قطب عالم علم

    أغر يكثر فيه ضرب الامثال

    Al-Makdishi is the aid for the distressed

    To resolve dilemmas or open horizons

  22. المكدشي الغياث المستغاث به

    لحل منعقد أَو فتح أَفقال

    He restored the reality of the spiritual path, O

    God, what a true and just saying

  23. فرد الحقيقة سنىّ الطَريقَة يا

    لِلَّه من قائل بالحق فعال

    Describe him with whatever knowledge and deeds you wish

    And attribute to him the best, not deficient or exaggerated

  24. غوث لِمُلتَجىء غيث لمنتجع

    ليث عَلى ملة الاسلام ريمال

    And his son Sharaf Al-Din, whom

    Praises have reached the letter meem and daal*

  25. ان الفقيه جَمال الدين مدلنا

    من سر مَعناه ظلا غير زوال

    The green of his generous fingers would shame

    The clouds with free-flowing rain

  26. الصائم القائم المحيي الظلام وَما

    ادراك ما سر ذاك القانت النالي

    His life guarded what his life guarded

    Sublime morals, protecting honor with property

  27. لما تمكن مه الحب من قدر

    سقاه غبا بكأس من سلسال

    The man of knowledge, forbearance, and generosity, a shining star

    Among the worlds, blindingly radiant

  28. فَقام في مشهد التَوفيق ممتثلا

    للحق بالحق لا بالحول وَالحال

    And the forerunner of religion in the garden of guides is of

    Superior virtue, reducing all superiority

  29. صفه بما شئتمن علم وَمن عمل

    وانزل بأغلب لا جاف وَلا غالي

    The virtues of the generous were attributed to him

    So every praising tongue stopped

  30. وَبابنه شرف الدين الَّذي وَصلت

    به المحامد حرف الميم وَالدال

    Those three are my pride to their father

    And my fortress of strength at times of scarcity

  31. تدر بالنعمة الخضر أَنامله

    فَتَخجل السحب من جود باجزال

    God bless their blessed branches

    A flower from a flower, and substitutes from substitutes

  32. وَصنوه عمر ماصنوه عمر

    سامي الذَوائِب واقى العرض بالمال

    Following in the footsteps of their father

    The logic of consequences in flexion and substitution

  33. ذو العلم وَالحلم وَالتبر يزان نجمت

    بين العَوالم عميا ذات اشكال

    He gave precedence to the one whose pure essence

    Rose above pride or pretentious grandeur

  34. وَسابق الدين روض الرائدين له

    فضل يقهقر عنه كل مفضال

    And in Mudhayyisa are suns that were not visited

    Except that I saw the corners of earth carrying for me

  35. نيطت مَكارم أَخلاق الكرام به

    فكل عنه لسان القبل القال

    The dust of their soil, erasing sins with it

    So with their soil how many burdens were relieved

  36. تلك الثَلاثة جاهى عند والدهم

    وَحصن عزى وَكنزي عند اقلالي

    And how many pilgrims and performers of umrah are there

    Without effort or ihram and confusion

  37. لِلَّه در فروع طاب عنصرهم

    زهر لزهر وأبدال لابدال

    They are a people whose love flows like my blood, so they are

    The soul to my soul and limbs to my limbs

  38. يَقفون في أثرهم آثار وَالدهم

    حكم التَوابع في عطف وابدال

    Their virtues adorned the cheek of time, so

    No eras were clearer or state was finer

  39. أَولاهم الفَضل من صفى سَرائرهم

    عَن فخر مفتخر أَو كبر مختال

    And their works ornamented the joy of life

    For Arabs and non-Arabs, in plains and mountains

  40. وَفي المضيضا شموس ما قصدتهم

    الا رأيت بقاع الارض تطوي لي

    O my blindness of intention, visit the land of gifts and do not

    Let the shining lineage prevent you

  41. غبار تربتهم تمحى الذنوب به

    فَكَم بتربتهم من حط أَثقال

    You will find the generous Bani Makdish a sea of riches

    That makes you needless of roses, myrtles, and lilies

  42. وَكَم هنالك من حاج وَمُعتَمر

    بغير سعي واحرام واهلال

    My master Yusuf, hear what I say and do not

    Neglect my side, for you are not people of neglect

  43. قوم جَرى حبهم مَجرى دَمي فهم

    روح لروحي وأوصال لاوصالي

    I have loyal devotion from you, rather from your midst

    For God’s sake, protect me from every foe

  44. حلت مَحاسنهم جيد الزَمان فَما

    أصفى الزمات وابها جيده الحالي

    The house is your house and the plantation your plantation

    And time between退s and advances is yours

  45. وَزَخرفت بهجة الدنيا صَنائعهم

    للعرب وَالعجم في سهل وأَجبال

    Protect your sanctuary and say “Do not fear any

    Aggression from an enemy or little criticism”

  46. يا ظلمى القصد زرنيل النوالا وَلا

    يسد عينك عنه لامع الآل

    For I have good expectations and hopes in you

    May God not disappoint me in my fair hopes

  47. تَلقى بني مكدش الاجواد بحر غنى

    يغنيك عَن ورد ضحضاح واوشال

    May you last, and the gardens of religion remain fragrant

    With your elders, youth, and children

  48. يا سَيدي يوسف اسمع ما أَقول وَلا

    تهمل جنابي فَلَستم أَهل اهمال

    And the soil of Mudhayyisa continue to produce synchronized fruits

    Aspiring to magnificence and grandeur

  49. لي منك بل من بينك الغرواقية

    بِاللَه تَغتال عَني كل مغتال

  50. وَالبيت بيتكم وَالغرس غَرسكم

    وَالدهر ما بين ادبار واقبال

  51. فاِحموا حماكم وَقولوا لا تخف دركا

    من اعتِداء عدوّ أَو قلى قالي

  52. فَلي ظنون وآمال بكم حسنت

    لا خيب اللَه منكم حسن آمالي

  53. دمتم وَدامَت رياض الدين مسفرة

    منكم بشيب وَشبان واطفال

  54. وَجادَ ترب المضيضا كل منسجم

    يهمى بعارضتَعظيمواجلال
