1. سَلامٌ وَيا ليتَ السلامَ المُسلِّم

    كَما قَامَ عَمَّارُ الحِمَى يَتَرَنَّمُ

    Peace, and would that peace submit

    As Ammar stood guard over the sanctuary chanting

  2. وَإلا كما وَافَيتَ من بعدِ سارِح

    على بارِحٍ في مطلبٍ يَتَيمَّمُ

    Else as you came after departing

    Upon one who leaves seeking with perseverance

  3. وَيُقْلِقُني ليلٌ إذا جنَّ دَمْدمَتْ

    عليَّ خُطوبٌ قُلُّها فِيهِ أعظَمُ

    And a night disquiets me when it darkens

    Worries befall me, the least being tremendous
