She kindled embers of passion in my heart,

A gazelle grazing the plains in the dusk.

She spoke to my heart with a weary glance,

Leaving me in the gloom, tending to forgetfulness.

Whenever I sought union, she did not ask,

What good would it do her, if she had united with me?

The full moon gained its beauty,

The morning sun took its splendor from her.

The enchanted one wandered, with hollow sorcery,

By God, that enchanted one had simply made a mistake.
