1. لا نَومَ إلّا غِرارُ العَينِ ساهِرَةً

    إن لم أُرَوِّع بِغَيظٍ أهلَ مَطلوبِ

    No sleep but trickery of wakeful eyes

    Unless I alarm the people of my desire in rage

  2. إن تَشتُموني فقَد بَدَّلتُ أَيكتُكُم

    ذَرقَ الدَجاجِ بِحَفّازِ اليَعاقيبِ

    If you insult me, I have changed your places

    Doves take flight from the talons of hawks

  3. وكنتُ أُخبرُكم أن سَوفَ يَعمَرها

    بَنو أُميَّةَ وَعداً غيرَ مَكذوبِ

    And I would tell you that it would be inhabited
