فيا عجباً مني ومن طارقِ الكَرَى

إِذا مَنَعَ العين الرقاد وسَهَّدا

What a wonder I am and the knocker of tents

If sleep is denied to the eye and is forced to slumber

ومن عبرة جاءت شآبيبَ إن بدا

بذي بَقَرٍ آياتُ ربعٍ تأَبَّدا

And if the pouring of tears ensues should it bleed

With the verses of the Lord in cattle grow ever
