And a band who love to slumber I roused

Upon a camel litter that mounts the saddles with ease

And I went to a creek that seemed

When the necks of the riding-beasts knock on the stallion

And water the color of murky clouds returned turbid

Few are the sounds in it in a barren land

And I found upon it the wolf howling as though it were

A wretch devoid of all wealth and people

So I said to it, "O wolf, is there a young man for you

Who consoles you without reluctance or stinginess?"

It said, "God give you guidance to righteousness, you have invited

To what no predator before me has come to

I cannot come to it nor can I manage it

Nor give me drink if your water has surplus"

I said, "The pond is at your disposal, I left it

With leftover little rainwater from the downpour"

It was delighted, howling for many she-wolves

And I returned, each to his own preoccupation
