مُعَاوِيَ إنْ تَأْتِنَا مُزْبِداً

بِخُضْرِيَّةٍ تَلْقَ رَجْرَاجَهْ

Mu'awiya, if you come to us

With a green army whose rustling is like thunder,

أسِنَّتُهَا مِنْ دِمَاءِ الرّجَالِ

إذَا جَالَتِ الْخَيْلُ مَجَّاجَهْ

Their tongues sharpened with the blood of men,

When the horses charge foaming at the mouth,

فَوَارِسُهَا كَأسُودِ الضَّرَابِ

إلى اللهِ في الْقَتْلِ مُحْتَاجَهْ

And their warriors are like roaring lions

Eager for battle and death,

وَلَيْسَتْ لَدَى المَوْتِ وَقَّافَةً

وَلَيْسَتْ لَدَى الْخَوْفِ فَجفَاجَهْ

With no thought of stopping before the spectre of death,

With no hesitation in the face of peril,

وَلَيْسَ بِهِمْ غَيْرُ جِدّ اللِّقَاء

إلى طُولِ أسْيَافِهِمْ حَاجَهْ

Concerned only with the overwhelming encounter,

As their long swords demand,

خطَأهُمْ مُقَدَّمُ أسْيَافِهِمْ

وَأذْرُعُهُمْ غَيْرُ خَدَّاجَهْ

Their swords reach out before them,

Their arms never faltering,

وعِنْدَكَ مِنْ وَقْعِهِمْ مُصْدِقٌ

وَقَدْ أخْرَجَتْ مْسِ إخْرَاجَهْ

And you have reports confirming this,

As their charging has made plain,

فَشَنَّتْ عَلَيْهِمْ بِبِيضِ السُّيُوفِ

بِهَا فَقْعُ لَجَّاجَهْ كذا

Then we shall smite them with shining swords

Whose blows fall like crashing lightning.
