لَقَدْ جَعَلَ اللّيْلُ الطَّوِيلُ لِنَأيِهَا
عَلَيَّ بِرَوْعَاتِ الْهَوَى يَتَطَاوَلُ
The long night with her so far away
Has let my passion's pangs more fiercely sway,
إذَا مَا اعْتَرَتْنِي لَوْعَةٌ زَادَ ذِكْرُهَا
تَجَدُّدَ وَصْلٍ فَاعْتَرَتْنِي البَلابِلُ
And when love's madness grows past what I can bear
Thoughts of her make it new, and wild birds blare
