تَوَدُّ عَدُوّي ثُمَّ تَزعُمُ أَنَّني
صَديقُكَ إِنَّ الرَأيَ مِنكَ لَعازِبُ
You love my enemy, then claim that I am
your friend—surely good sense has deserted you.
وَلَيسَ أَخي مَن وَدَّني بِلِسانِهِ
وَلكِن أَخي مِن وَدَّني وَهوَ غائِبُ
He is no brother of mine who professes love for me with his tongue;
rather, my brother is one who loves me even while away.
