A stranger in need or a prince in his land?

And around me fierce, hostile foes.

O Mount Nu'man, a sincere refuge in Allah,

The breeze of morning reaches me through its path.

Will it cool me or heal my young spirit

Of a heart where only the essence remains?

For the morning breeze is a wind which, when breathed

Upon a troubled soul, reveals its sorrows.

But my passion for Layla is longstanding,

And I slay men's passions however longstanding.
