سَكَنوا شُبيْثاً وَالأَحَصَّ وَأَصبَحَتْ

نَزَلَتْ مَنازِلَهُم بَنو ذُبيانِ

They settled at Sho'baitha and Al-Ahass and their abodes

Became inhabited by the tribe of Dhubyan.

وَإِذا فُلانٌ ماتَ عَنْ أُكْرومَةٍ

رَقُعَوا مَعاوِزَ فَقدِهِ بِفُلانِ

When so-and-so dies without offspring,

They patch up the loss of him with so-and-so.

وَإِذا يُقالُ أَتَيتُمُ لَم يَبرَحوا

حَتّى تُقيمَ الخَيلُ سُوقَ طِعانِ

And when it is said, "You have come," they do not budge

Until the horses erect the banners of piercing.
