كَسَوناها مِنَ الريطِ اليَماني

كَسَوناها مِنَ الريطِ اليَماني

مُسوحاً في بَنائِقِها فُضولُ

مُسوحاً في بَنائِقِها فُضولُ

We clad her in Yemeni mantles,

broad and flowing, their gussets full of ample folds.

وَهَدَّمنا صَوامِعَ شَيَّدَتها

وَهَدَّمنا صَوامِعَ شَيَّدَتها

لَها حَبَبٌ مَخالِطُها نَجيلُ

لَها حَبَبٌ مَخالِطُها نَجيلُ

And we demolished the monastic towers raised for her

by Abyssinians, with turf intermingled in them.
