Where are the people of the pavilion tents at al-Dahna?
Where are our neighbors at al-Ahsa?
They left us while the earth was clothed in blossoms;
daisies were showered by the rain-bearing anwāʾ.
Each day brought fresh daisies.
The earth laughs at the weeping of the sky.
At each flower’s heart, a dense cluster of gold beads is ringed
with mouths of white silver.
This air grew sweet—and sweeter—until
this air could grow no sweeter.
Gold wherever we went, and pearls
wherever we turned, and silver across the open expanse.
