1. وَلِي كبدٌ مَقْرُوحَةٌ مَنْ يَبيعُني

    بِهَا كَبِداً لَيْسَتْ بِذاتِ قُروحِ

    I have a wounded liver, who will buy

    It from me with a liver that has no wounds?

  2. أَبَى النَّاسُ وَيْبَ النَّاسِ أَنْ يشْتَرُونَها

    وَمَنْ يشْتَرِي ذا عِلَّة بِصَحيحِ

    People refused and declined to buy it

    Who would buy something defective with something sound?

  3. أئنُّ من الشوق الذي في جوانحي

    أنينَ غصيصٍ بالشراب قريحِ

    Do I moan from the longing in my heart

    With the moaning of one choking on drink?
