1. May Yaʿrub never be struck by an arrow so grievous

    after Zayd, lord of praiseworthy deeds—

  2. the best of Khawlān—nay, of Quḍāʿa—nay, of Ḥimyar—

    nay, of noble Qaḥṭān, son of Hūd.

  3. Then you two proclaim his death to every mighty king;

    may God have mercy on the best of all who have died and gone.

  4. After his death, the earth’s womb grew barren,

    and shall never bear another like him.
