آليت إذ آليت مجتهداً

ورفعت صوتاً ما به بحح

When I resolved to strive in earnest,

And raised a voice that had no hollow ring,

لا يدرك الشعراء منزلتي

في الشعر ان سكتوا وأن نبحوا

The poets could not grasp my rank in verse,

Whether they fell silent or loudly sang.
