وَالجودُ في كَفِّ غَيرِهِ خَشِنٌ

وَالجودُ في كَفِّ غَيرِهِ خَشِنٌ

وَهوَ بِكَفَّيه لَيِّنٌ سَرِبُ

وَهوَ بِكَفَّيه لَيِّنٌ سَرِبُ

And generosity in another's palm is rough;

Giving through another's hand is harsh and crude,

But in his two palms it is soft and free-flowing.

Yet through his own it's gentle, smooth and fluent.
